Sage
"Oh, no no no. Sorry, hun. I'm not your mama. I can't give you the milk of life" Keisha removed Daniel's hand from her shirt and he tried to climb up her body again.
"Ahhh mmm. Arahhh"
"That doesn't sound like an okay" Keisha said, raising her eyebrow at Daniel.
"Danny's usually not like this with strangers. He usually just stares and it makes people uncomfortable"
"He just knows a real sista when he sees one" Keisha shrugged. "I appreciate that in a baby. They don't sugar coat anything"
"Whatever" Nadia laughed. "Sage, your house is so big and you just took us to your room like we didn't want a tour"
"A tour?" I laughed. "I only go to my dad's office and the kitchen. Most of my time is spent in my room"
"You have a pool, an exercise room, the whole nine even, and all you do is stay in your room?"
I nodded.
"You should throw a pool party. Like today"
"Uhh. . . I don't know. That sounds a little - eh. That sounds like too much"
I most definitely wasn't one to attend or throw a party. It wasn't in my character.
"What if we just invite those idiots and your boo?"
Definitely not.
"No. No thank you" I said disagreeing with the thought of my dad even bumping into Bryson.
I wanted them to meet, but I would like to know Bryson a little better before my dad got to meet him.
He knew so much about me and I knew so little.
I could compare how much I knew about him versus the types of things you just knew about associates.
The bare minimum.
We were much more than associates though.
-
My dad had agreed to me inviting a few friends over.
There was 6 of us in total.
"You bored, yeah? Why ain't you getting in, boo?"
"The waters cold and they're splashing. Why aren't you getting in?"
"I ain't wanna get until you did"
"You're legs are hairy" I mumbled and pulled at the short hairs.
"Well you're beautiful sooo. . ."
"That has nothing to do with anything" I laughed.
Bryson shrugged. "It ain't have to, boo. I was just telling you"
"Thank you. I'm going to go lay down beside Keisha" I stated and stood up.
"You're gonna get tan lines"
"I put sunscreen on. I just like the warmth of the sun" I admitted.
"I'll probably get in the jacuzzi soon" Bryson shrugged.
"Oh, I can get my sketchbook! I'll be back" I called before standing up and going back to my room.
Ten minutes later, I was sitting on a beach chair with paint on my fingers and a bucket of water beside me.
"You make finger painting look so professional. Putting us all to shame"
"I like working with my hands" I stated.
"Do you now?" Keisha stated and everyone but me laughed.
"Huh?" I asked, confused.
"Nothing, Cilantro. Don't worry about it"
"You guys are rude" I flicked paint at Covonte.
Bryson took it upon himself to put paint on my nose.
I didn't even see him dip his finger into the paint.
"Are we really doing this?" I stated and Ace grabbed a container of paint and squeezed it out on Covonte's back.
"That's for stabbing me with that pencil on the playground when we were five. Put a hole in my skin and everything"
"Ace, you always holding grudges" Nadia laughed before getting splashed herself.
"Ain't wanna do my homework. Acting like you can't trace the words 'cat' and 'dog' for me a few times"
"Ace, you'd better not-"
Keisha was his next victim. "That's for thinking that someones afraid of you"
"I'm innocent" I held my hands up.
"If you gone get somebody next, get Sage because why not?" Bryson offered me up.
"Are you serious?" I laughed.
"Sorry, boo. But yeah, get her"
"Bryson is it?"
I froze when I heard his voice.
"Hi, daddy"
"Hey, Mr. Wyatt"
"Hello, Sir"
"What's up Mr. W?"
"Hey, Charles" Keisha gave him a head nod which he happily returned..
"Keisha understands me" He chuckled.
"Yeah, it's Bryson"
"Let's have a talk in my office, is that okay with you?"
"Yes, sir. That's alright with me"
We all knew that it wasn't a question, but rather a calm demand.
