Sage

Bryson laid his body across my bed.

"Come here, boo"

"Me?"

"Yeah"

I walked over to the edge of the bed and sat on it.

Bryson took me by my waist and pulled be back so that I was laying across him.

"Feels like we haven't had a real conversation in forever. We loosing our mental connection"

I nodded my head, agreeing with him.

We were falling out of touch.

"I quit working for your dad. You more important right now"

"Just right now?" I teased.

"Right later too"

I giggled softly. "Sure"

He squinted at me. "You don't believe me or something?"

I shrugged my shoulders jokingly. "I love you"

"I love you more than I love myself, and I love myself a whole damn lot. Bryson, young man, you poppin'."

"Popping?" I questioned.

"Nothing, boo"

I sucked my teeth.

"Sorry" I apologized for how rude I had just been.

"Mhm. Do you feel the baby yet?"

"I feel myself getting fat" I giggled.

"You probably one of the a select few girls that can say that and not care"

"I'm happy with myself at any size. I'll still be great"

"Don't I know it"

"Boom. Jazz hands" I laughed, showing him my jazz hands.

"You cute, boo"

"Sure I am" I spoke sarcastically.

"I remember when I first met you" Bryson grinned as if it were a happy memory.

"You were so mean to me. Calling me an f'ing dumb butt and the b word" I felt the tears rolling down my cheeks.

Hormones.

"Sage, I'm sorry. I ain't know how to approach you and went about it the wrong way. Would you stop crying if I cried?"

"I don't know" I sobbed.

"Oh, shit" Bryson cussed.

"This hasn't happened before" I sniffed.

Bryson sat up and pulled my body to his, rocking me back and fourth slowly.

I felt myself falling asleep under his gentle swaying.

I pushed my face into his neck and moved around, getting comfortable.

I turned my body around and wrapped my legs around him before hugging his body.

"Okay. Sage a freak" Bryson mumbled.

I moved to unwrap my legs, but Bryson held me in place.

"I don't feel comfortable anymore" I admitted and he let me go.

I laid across my bed and grabbed one of my pillows, hugging it.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-"

"I'm not mad at you, Sage" Bryson pinched my calf. "I should beat Laura's ass for stabbing you"

"Why would you hurt her?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"Cause she hurt you"

"It's not about retaliation, Bryson. Laura herself was hurting, so she felt the need to hurt everybody else. I get it, and I don't blame her"

"The only person that she hurt was you. You always used to make excuses for her and find a reason to justify her actions. Same thing with Eric"

I frowned at his words.

"You just going to be everybody's punching bag, yeah?" He continued.

"Okay! Bryson. Could you just stop talking?"

"You need to hear this, boo"

"Well I'm not going to change for anyone. You're insinuating that I should fight back and I won't. I like myself the way I am and if you don't like or accept me the way that I am the happiest, then you can leave"

"Boo, I ain't mean it like-"

"You did. You just don't like the way I reacted"
