I wasn't even trying to update today. I was tryna be petty. . .
Bryson
"Sage, talk to usss" Keisha whined.
Her face was formed into a hard frown and she was ignoring everything that was being said.
"About what?" She finally spoke.
"How's your art?"
"I sold it"
"You what?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Sold. It"
"Why?"
"For money"
"What you need money for?"
"I bought pens. I bought notebooks. I shipped them off to a place in Africa"
"Why not pencils?"
"Pens last longer, Covonte"
He held his hands up in surrender. "My bad. I won't question you no mo'."
She sighed and got up. "I'm leaving"
I reached out to grab her hand, but she shook me off. "Don't touch me" She snapped.
I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from saying a few words that I would regret.
I think that this was the first time that I had ever held my tongue around her.
"What you do, nigga? She pissed as a mothafucka"
"I didn't do anything"
"I didn't even think that Sage had the capability to get mad"
I licked my lips slowly and shrugged. "I mean, I knew but I ain't know it was gone be like this"
"Did you cheat on her?"
I scrunched my face up. "Cheat on her with who? That girl has my whole heart"
"Awww. That's so cute"
"Does that remind you of your boyfriend, Keisha?"
"No, he -" She stopped talking when she caught herself. "Doesn't exist. You guys are crazy"
"Crazy with the trigger, ya heard me?"
I knew that Covonte and Ace were out in the streets.
That's how they met Sage.
Sage
"Mom?" I questioned when I saw her waking out of the kitchen. "What are you doing here?"
"I live here, honey. What do you mean?"
I didn't expect to see her at all after what had happened the last time we saw eachother.
"I thought - nevermind"
"I'm sorry for putting my hands on you. It was unnecessary and I am truly sorry"
"I forgive you - well forgave you"
"Good. What's new? Any good news?"
Depends on how she took teen pregnancy and grandmotherhood.
"Nope. Not in the slightest. What happened to you and your friend?"
"Surprise, surprise. We didn't work out and I'm back"
"Are you moving back in?"
"Yes. Where's Emerson?"
"With Camilla. She's - right here actually"
Danny giggled excitedly as Camilla talked to him.
"Get your filthy hands away from my son!"
"These filthy hands have been raising and loving your son better than you can, but I'm not going to speak on that. How are you, Serenity?"
I never realized how shady Camilla was.
Maybe because we got along and she never felt the need to get shady with me.
I could see why her and my mother would be at each other's throats.
"CHARLES!" Serinity hollered as soon as the front door closed.
Both Bryson and my father walked in.
I guess they were done with work early today.
"What?" He answered and walked over to me, kissing me on the forehead.
"Why is this servant still here. I thought that I fired her. And who is this hoodrat?"
She looked at Bryson as if he has just crawled out of a sewer.
My father leaned down and kissed Camilla on the lips.
"You don't pay for anything around here, so you never had the proper authority to do so" Dad stated.
"She's playing mother to my kids!"
"That is correct. Only now she's playing the role as my significant other, also"
"This servant bitch? The nanny! Are you out of your goddamn mind?"
"Of course not. I was doing a whole lot better after you left. Did your extended vacation with your retired guard friend not work out as planned?"
"I am still legally your wife, and I won't let you talk to me that way, Charles! I won't."
"Are you putting emphasis on still because you're impatient about the whole divorce process too, or is that just me?"
"I love you, and you know that. Fire the maid or whoever the hell she is so we can be together again! Can't you see that she's driving us apart?"
Serinity said 'whoever the hell she is', but just for upset because she was raising Danny. She obviously knew her occupation.
"Oh, she's doing it?" My father questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Speaking of driving, I was informed on multiple occasions that you were driving around Detroit and Florida with your guard friend using a car from GM and spending thousands of my dollars on bullshit, Serenity."I exited the kitchen.
Their argument was none of my business.
"Sage"
"Yes?"
"Can you tell me what's wrong with you? I'm not good with the guessing shit, but I wanna fix it" Bryson spoke.
"Nothing needs to be fixed. I'm fine, really." I tried to convince him, but my words didn't even sound believable.
"How long you gone keep playing games with me? You ain't gotta lie."
"I - I don't know what to say"
"You love me, yeah?"
"I love you" I agreed, nodding my head slowly.
I just couldn't say that I loved the baby.
