Chapter 12

The next day was Saturday. We planned to meet at 1:00 for the date. When getting ready, I decided to wear this long sleeved dark green top of mine with a short white shirt and a dress show that goes with the outfit and putting my hair up in a messy bun. *see pic for info. the right one*

1:00 came so I rushed out to meet up with Ayato at the nearby park. When I got there, he was already there and some girl approached him. I just stopped and look. What now? I think, not knowing what to do. Do I just go up to him? Do I drive the girls away? What should I do???

"Hey girl." Someone said. I turned around and a couple of guys came up to me. "Um..." I started, not knowing what to say or do. "You're pretty. You alone? If you are, you can hang with us." One of them says. "Um...I'm actually with..." I turn around to look for Ayato but he was no where to be found, neither was the girls. Oh no.

"Looks like that someone probably isn't showing up, if you're looking for someone." They say. What is with me? Usually I'd say things that easily. "Look, I'm sorry. I can't hang out with you guys. If that someone isn't showing up then I'll wait a bit longer or I'll just leave. Please, just go on ahead." I said a bit scared being approached by them.

"Hey, don't need to look scared. If that guy ain't gonna show up then—"

"Who said I wouldn't show up?" Someone said from behind me. I recognize that voice. I look back and saw Ayato-kun standing there. He grabs me and and pulls me closer to his side, placing his hand on my shoulder. "She's with me. Right?" He said keeping his eyes on those guys and kissed my cheek.

"Handsome." Someone whispers. "Too late." One of them sighs. "Well then see ya. Sorry to disturb." And they left. After that, I took Ayato's hands away from my shoulder. "Where were you in the first place?" I complain. "Jeez, I could've at least gotten a thank you. I saved you just in time." He sighs looking away.

"If you were here in the first place, they wouldn't had approach me." I argue looking away from him. "Where were you anyways? I saw you with some girls then when those guys came to me, you and the girls weren't there no more."

"Honestly, I don't know where them girls ran off to but I was just wanted to get this." He said, and I still didn't look at him, not caring much. But then I feel someone on me and see his a winged necklace on my neck that he placed. I look at it surprised and turned to him. "You—"

"Thought it'd look nice on you. You look seriously nice, no wonder those guys approached you." He complimented. I stare speechless and flattered. "What's the matter? Cat got your tough?" He asked. "N-no...Thank you Ayato-kun." I blushed. "Come on, let's go." He smiled and patted my head then held out a hand as he's about to go. I smile, took it and we both started leaving for the zoo.

Once we got into the zoo, the first animal that I spotted was the tigers. "Omg, omg! Let's go!" I exclaimed as I took his hand and ran to the tiger cages. We stood and watch as the people did their show. I stare at the tigers with sparkled eyes. Tigers are my favorite animals.

I feel Ayato's eyes on me then he suddenly starts snickering as he looks away. "What's so funny?" I asked not being able to look away from the tigers. "You're like a little kid. I can see sparkles in your eyes. You were so excited to see the tigers that without thinking, you ran like an excited little kid." He snickers.

"I'm still a kid at heart." I gasp and pointed out. "Ooh, look at that!" He chuckles. "You're cute." I turn to him. "I know I am. Psych nah." I laugh then suddenly spotted a white tiger and gasp. "Shh, shut up now. Omg it's a white tiger! I've always wanted to see them in real life. They say those animals are in danger mostly because of humans. That's so sad, now there's only a few of them." I explained excitedly.

"Just look at them, their white furs. They're so rare." After the show, I excitedly grabbed Ayato's hand when they said we could pet the tigers. "Let's go, let's go." I exclaimed as we speed walk. "Gosh you're a child." He sighs but instead of paying attention to him, I quickly go up to the white tiger and pet his soft fur.

Whoa... o//o... ^w^ "So fluffy..." Then all of a sudden, crowds came towards me and squeeze me. Too crowded, too crowded. Everyone wants to let the white tiger, I got to but now how do I get out? Ow! Come on people—ouch! Ow— Suddenly someone grabs my arm and took me away from the crowd.

"Ayato-kun, thanks." I pant realizing it was him who saved me. "Seriously, you really are a little kid." He sighs. "I know, I know. Sorry I just ran off like that but, I got to pet the white tiger though! Their fur! It's so nice!" ^w^ I smile telling him how it felt. He turns to me and smile. "So where next?" He asked.

"Ooh, the wolves!" I said and we started going. We looked at the animals and pet them as well. Mostly the whole time, I was like a little kid and Ayato just went along with it. After for some time, the zoo was about to close. "Aw, it's too bad." I frown.

"Come on, let's go. Your grandpa would want you back." He says grabbing my hand as we start walking. "Hey, I wanna know who my father is." I suddenly spilled out. "What? Where did that come from?" He asked. "I don't know, I just...I mean he's my father, duh I want to know who he is. You've heard the stories about him, bad and good. Abusive, and non abusive. Who to believe?" I said all confused up.

     "Well that's your choice." Ayato says.

     "I know but still." I complain. "That's why I want to know him. Ooh, I know. I'll ask grandpa. I'll believe what he says. I'm sure he'll tell me this time since I'm ready. I'm ready right?" I turn to him.

     He goes blank and worried at first. "If you think you are. That's your decision to make."

     "Well, I think I'm ready. It's been so long, I really need to know my father."

     "If you want to know that badly then go ask him. Just be prepared for what your grandpa will say."

     Be prepared, I'll be prepared.

When I got home. I felt a bit scared, scared about how to bring up dad. I mean, what do I say? "I'm home!" I call as I'm coming in. "Shay, welcome back." Grandpa greeted from the living room. But when I went in the living room, I noticed grandpa wasn't alone.

"Mom...?"
