That night, around nine o'clock, the pool party was still going on and I was summoned by Ayato to his room when I had my shift. When I got there, Ayato looked up and smiles. "Lock the door." He orders. I flush. Wha...? Picking up what I thought he meant, he rolls his eyes. "So that nobody would barge in you freaking idiot." He scowls at me. "Any of my securities or my father can just walk in while you're here and we'll both be in big trouble."
"O-oh." I nodded understandingly as I lock the door. "Geez, what's with that dirty mind of yours? There's no way we can do that tonight." I hear him sigh. "'That'?!" I blush furiously. Ayato smacks his hand on hid forehead. "I-I'm sorry, I'm just...nervous." I stammer.
He nods. "Yeah, I can tell. Anyways, come eat." He gestures me to go over to him. Cocking my head to the side, I wonder why he's suddenly inviting me to eat with him. "You haven't eaten yet right? I watched you the whole day while you were down there and you never got a chance to take a break." He explains as he extends a hand for me.
Feeling touched, I take his hand and he seats me down as we start eating. "Hey, are you staying over here?" I ask him. Ayato gave a slight nod. "It's just me staying over, none of those annoying bodyguards or my father," then his mouth curls up into an evil grin. "So you can stay over with me if you want."
"A-Ayato...!" I scold him. But Ayato just smiles. "I'm serious though." He says with his face turning serious. "I need you here with me."
I blinked a couple of times at his sudden invite. Not wanting this to go awkward as it has already begun to, I make up a joke. "Oh, because you're scared to sleep by yourself?" I smile teasingly. Ayato's serious face turns into a smile as he chuckles. "You could say that. Which means I'll need you to sleep next to me, in bed."
Seeing me flustered, he grins. "Wouldn't you be scared too? So it'd be best for the both of us if we sleep together."
"H-hey! I never agreed to this." I protest.
"But...could you?" He asks with his serious tone. I hesitate. "...Fine. But don't do anything to me, I'm still a high school kid, and a virgin."
"Do you think I don't know that? You say that as if I'll actually do some pervert stuff to you." He raises a brow and I just shrug in return. "You never know." I say and he sighs in annoyance. "Besides, the bed's a kings size so we'll be fine."
Looking at it, I nod in approve. There was a sudden knock on the door that made my heart skip a beat. Ayato quickly gestures his face, telling me to hide in the bathroom. So I quickly got up and ran into the bathroom, closing the door behind me.
Outside, I could hear that it was Ayato's father who had knocked on the door. "Yes father?" Ayato asks. There was a moment of pause. "I never knew you could eat this much." His father tells him. I cover my mouth knowing that his father just witnessed my giant eating. I'm probably red in the face right now too. "Well, I was hungry." Ayato replied curtly as if he's showing no sign of suspicion. "Forget about the food, was there something you needed?" He changes the subject.
"You did what you were told to do right? To break up with this...Shay." I can hear the serious, mad tone in his father's voice. "That was days ago, yes." Ayato replies.
"Good, because I do not want this person to get in the way of all of this. Harumi-chan is a perfect girl for you, you need to see that. If you slip and ever run back to that Shay girl, you know what will happen to her life. I heard her grandfather is already in the hospital, waiting for death to come to him if she doesn't have the money. See that? You don't deserve poor girls, she doesn't deserve you."
Once his father had spoken those words, I can feel my eyes burning and waiting for the tears to fall.
"That will be—"
"Father, you shouldn't speak so poorly to someone I care about." Ayato cuts off his father. My heart skipped a beat when I heard him say that. "Shay isn't just a girl I love, she is also my best friend, can't you understand that?"
"Oh I understand clearly that if you speak another protest, I will make her grandfather's hospital bills higher." And with that, I can hear the door slammed shut.
My knees finally fell to the floor as the tears start swimming down my cheeks. The door to the bathroom opens and Ayato comes in. Seeing me tearing up, he sighs sympathetically, as if he knew this was going to happen. Ayato bends down and start brushing his fingers against my wet cheeks. "I'm sorry...I'm really sorry." He whispers.
Then he backs away and falls to his butt as his head hits the wall. It was as if everything he once had had fallen right out of his hands, like everyone had left him, like everyone had betrayed him. Not wanting him to have this feeling, I quickly wrap my arms around his neck. I could feel him jump back, not expecting me to do this, but Ayato doesn't pull away.
"I still believe in you Ayato...so please, don't look like that." My voice was cracking as I'm speaking. Then I felt his arms sliding to my back as he embraces me back. I squeeze him tighter, telling him that I'm right here for him, missing his embrace after what seems like forever. "I miss you...I really miss you..." I whisper my feelings as the tears starts falling down again. Ayato pulls in more, as if saying that he misses me too. "I never wanted to hurt you." He whispers as if recalling the moment we broke up. I shook my head. "I know...I know Ayato-kun." Then I pull back to see his face as I let my hands cup his cheeks. Wiping the tears from his face, I manage to pull out a smile. "You don't need to apologize, I already know you still love me as much as I love you. This is all your father's doings, it's not you fault. You've always been there for me whenever I was in pain and in need of help, so it's my turn now. I'm sure everything will work out, you have this under control don't you?"
He pauses for a moment and with hesitation, Ayato shakes his head guiltily as he looks away from me. I quickly shook my head. "Don't worry then, I'm sure you'll find something out, and if you don't, we'll do it together...we can do this...I'm sure of it. Everyone else believes in you Ayato, Arisa, Tsubaki, Takuma, Yui-senpai, even Harumi, and me...we all believe in you...there's only one problem though." Ayato looks up at me for what I meant. "You." I answer. "You don't believe in yourself...and the only way to make this work is if you believe in yourself, and I know you can do it. I know it. So don't lose hope okay? I still love you and I will always love you. I love you Ayato."
Ayato was silent for some seconds, then reaches his hand on the back of my head and leans in for a kiss. His kiss grows deeper and more passionate than the previous kisses he had given me. And I relent and we kiss there. He didn't needed to say anything, his actions showed everything...thanking me.
Ayato-kun...I will never leave your side...
