Chapter 35

     After that date yesterday, I started feeling way better about me and Ayato's relationship. Some months had pasted by and it was finally December. Snow started fluttering down from the sky and it has covered up most of the ground with white. The whole school was getting ready for a contest show that's about to happy. The theme was winter wonderland and the contest was about who was the best couple in school. Honestly, I so, do not want to get into this thing, I've already got so many haters so there's no way I'm doing it. Arisa and Tsubaki are begging me to sign up with I declined it anyways. Arisa couldn't sign up since Takuma-kun is busy this weekend.

     "I've already signed up for the cooking chefs, there's no way I'll be doing that contest." I rolled my eyes tirelessly since these two kept asking me to sign up. "But Shay!" Arisa complains, her voice going high pitch. "You two are the best couple in this school!" I shrug. "So what? I don't need some contest just to prove that." I tell them. "There's already many girls who's begging Ayato-kun to be his partners since someone already signed him up. He can't back down, you have to be part of the contest!" Tsubaki tells me as she points to where Ayato-kun was, surrounded by many girls. I paused for a few second but then ended up shrugging again and looked away. "Oh well."

     Their mouths hanged in shock. I roll my eyes and closed their mouths with my hands. "I trust him, that's why."

     "But once you're signed up, you're signed up. Ayato-kun can't have any other partner except for you." Arisa begs. "Or else the school will think that he's got a new partner." Tsubaki added. "Oh well, just let them think whatever they want." I shrug once again. Their faces glooms, finally giving up as they said nothing in return, just head down low with a depressed aura around them. "You're the worst." Said Arisa. "Stubborn freak." Added Tsubaki. In return, I just snicker at them, knowing that they just lost against me. "It's not funny!" They both yell at the same time, making me jump. 🤐💧 "My bad."

Arisa's POV

Tsubaki and I sat on a bench, tried from begging and pleading for Shay to get into the contest, not that it helped, she's mad stubborn. "What a life. I'm so tired just from begging her." I sigh tiredly. Tsubaki slumps into the bench, agreeing. "She's so freaking stubborn."

Then all of a sudden, I sat straight back up and gasp, thinking of something. "Let's threaten her with Harumi." I smile evilly. Tsubaki gave me an unsure smile. 😬 "She'll kill us." She shakes her head. "It wouldn't hurt to try." I add in. "Then do it." We heard a voice behind us. Looking back, Yui-senpai and Ryo came walking towards us. "We'll help too." Ryo smiles and senpai nods in agreement. Apparently, those two were the ones who signed Ayato-kun up and they want Shay to get in the contest as well. So, they were willing to help. Tsubaki sighs. "Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you guys."

I quickly grabbed her arm. "Yay! Let's go!"

We found Shay still in the kitchen, chopping up some vegetables. "She has a knife in her hand!" Tsubaki whispers. "Then let's just wait until she puts the knife down." I smile cheekily. This better work! Shay finally puts down the knife she had and started working on some other food stuff. We nodded in unison to signal that we could go up to Shay. So we walked up to her, pretending not to hide anything.

"Hey Shay! Whacha working on?" I smile as we went in. "Okay, two things. First, ooh, look at this crepe that I made! It looks so delicious!" She exclaims. We all look in awe by how nice she had done to the crepe. Then Shay's face turned serious. "And second, what do you want?" She raises her brow. "What do you mean what do I want? Just coming to check up on you." I tried denying, but Shay wasn't buying it.

"You sure? You just came with senpai and Ryo, there's bond to be something you want. I know you too well. And your smile, it's evil." She tells me. Shay rolls her eyes when she sees me speechless and turned back to the food she was working on. "I mean, we were just thinking..." I started. "What if Harumi wanted to be paired up with Ayato?" Ryo continues. "And since he can't back down from the contest and you wouldn't sign up, what if he chose her as his partner?" Senpai finishes. "Then I guess I'll just have to kill him." Shay answers as she holds up the knife she had put down before and smiled so evilly. Us four backed away, surprised and scared about her reactions. 🤐💧 "U-Uh..."

     "Put that knife down you idiot. Your face looks disgusting." A familiar voice orders. Yamato came walking up to Shay, taking to knife away from her and Shay just shrugs. "Aren't you guys suppose to be working with the upcoming contest as well?" He says turning to us. When we didn't say anything, he just sighs and turns to what Shay had been working on. "Chef told us to bring our food to him in 1 minute. Hurry up." He orders her. "Help me! I can't get this done in one minute without a helper!" Shay panics. Yamato just rolls his eyes in return and started helping Shay out. We just stood there and watched with the same thing on our mind. "Shay, you cheating on Ayato-kun?! That's why you signed up for chef?! Cause you're cheating on him?!" I asked stunned. 😱

     Shay gave me that disgusted, obviously, no, look. "Can people stop thinking that I'm cheating on Ayato?! Stupid, I signed up for chef cause I'm working on my future career, and Yamato just happened to be my chef partner." She rolls her eyes. "R-right, we knew that." Tsubaki says.

     Shay sighs in return. "Gotta go now, stop disturbing me. And I already told you, I'm not signing up for the contest." She says taking some food of bowls in her hand with the help of Yamato. "But Shay, why not?" Senpai asks. "Haters, like Hana and Yuki, they'll give me the creeps." She answers. "Wait, that's why?" I asked surprised. "Duh, what did you think was the reason?" She says walking further into the kitchen with Yamato. "Cause I'm cheating on him? No." She ended as they both disappeared into the kitchen.

     Leaving us tired, we all sighed a tired sigh in unison. "Well, can't help it if that's the reason." Tsubaki mumbles as we all give up.

Shay's POV

     "Gosh, those idiots." I mumble as me and Yamato were heading to chef. Cheating? Pht.

     After all the hard work, we were finally released for break time. I went out to get some fresh air when Harumi came up to me. "Shay, you on your break?" She asks me. I nodded, wondering why she had asked me that. "Ayato-kun was looking for you. He's up on the rooftop." She tells me. I look at her a bit surprised but then smiled. "Thanks." I tell her and just as I'm about to go, Hana and Yuki walked slowly past us, staying some words on purpose, for both me and Harumi to hear.

     "Oh, will you look at that? Ayato's first love and Ayato's girlfriend." Hana snorted. "What a match. I'd say, Ayato-kun should go back to me. But then again, if I had to choose between those two, I'd choose Harumi-chan. Shay's no fit for Ayato-kun." Yuki adds and Hana nodded. Then they walked faster, laughing. I pause there, speechless as I'm biting the corner of my lip. "Don't listen to them Shay. You're the best fit for Ayato-kun, besides, no one knows him like you do." Harumi assures me. I smiled in return. "Right, thanks Harumi-chan." And waved, leaving to Ayato.
