Chapter 17

Shay's POV
That next day, I walked home with Ayato and Arisa to confront my mother. Honestly, I'm pretty scared but at the same time I'm also confident.

"Shay!" I hear Grandpa call as he saw us walking in. Relief showed on his face as he came and hugged me. "Thank goodness." He says, Hiro and Sho came as well with smiles on their faces. "Where's mom?" I ask and mom shows up. "What do you want now after you left?" She demands. "Child, don't talk to her like that." Grandpa argued. "She disrespected me dad." Mom says then turns her gaze at me again.

She saw Ayato and Arisa with me. "Bringing friends over? Too scared to see me?"

"Of course not. Just listen to what I have to say." I said. When mom sigh, I knew that was the time. "Look, you know Ayato, he's a very great person, you once told me to get a person like him back then. Now that I'm dating him, it seems you're still not satisfied. Mom..." I took a deep breath. "I've always wanted to please you, but no matter what I did, I'm still not respected by you unlike Hiro and Sho.

I know I've done wrong, I've done many wrong things, but that's just part of life, everyone goes through that. The reason why I stayed with Grandpa when Grandma left Earth was one, because I didn't wanted him to be alone, and the other...I was running away from you...I was scared, scared that you may never accept me, so I stayed with Grandpa. Those years with Grandpa was one of the best times but...I still felt scared, because I know my problems with you was still not resolved yet...I know you won't like this but...

I've always wanted to meet my father." Mom scrunches up her face but I kept going. "I'm sorry if he was ever rude to you in whatever way but, I've also heard great things about him from Grandpa and Grandma...Mom...if I ever did something wrong to you, I'm sorry. So please, accept me..." I bowed my head pleadingly.

"Shay has always talked to me about you sometimes." I heard Ayato saying. "She always said that she wanted to please you so that you can accept her. As your daughter." Arisa says and they bow next to me. "So please, we beg of you." Ayato added.

"Us too mom." Hiro says. "We grew up with Shay and always felt bad for her whenever we're being treated right and she's not." Sho says. "So as your sons, we'd also like you to accept Shay." And they bowed as well.

Everyone...thank you.

A long whole of seconds past and mom finally let out some words. "I'd also...like to apologize." She started. Mom touches my cheeks as she raises me up while the others straightened up as well. "Those past years...you know what, it doesn't matter. I've just always had this bad anger issue in me and of course, you can tell. But Shay, those past years without you...I've always wanted to apologized for ever emotionally hurting you.

Your father was a great man but, we just weren't meant to be. I told you to not date because of what had happened in my pasts. So many heartbreaks, and I didn't wanted you to experience the same thing."

"You did it to protect me?" I ask and mom nods. "But I can tell, Ayato is a great guy. And I'm sorry Shay, of course I'll accept you." Mom smiled. Tears streamed down my face, because I was happy and relieved. Mom understood and just pulled me into her arms with Hiro and Sho joining.

That afternoon, they had to leave so we send them off at the airport. "I'm glad...that my problems are being solved." I smiled, looking up through the window as their airplane departed. "You guys can still date!" 😆 Arisa shouts as she breaks the quietness away. I smiled happily back. Me and Arisa both squealed. 😆

"Okay I know you're excited but that's too loud." Ayato says as he covers his ears with his hands. After we calmed down, Ayato lets out a sigh. "I can't believe you guys never told me about Hana."

     "Well I didn't had no choice, Shay told me to keep it from you." Arisa goes. "Then let's make a promise." I said turning to Ayato. "From now on, let's not keep any secrets between each other." I held out my pinkie as I said that. Ayato smiled and crossed his pinkie over mine.

     "Hey, hey, hey, I'm not about to third wheel over here." Arisa says cutting off our moment. "Now let's go eat, I'm hungry. Ayato, you're paying." Arisa demands as she grabs our arms, getting between us. Ayato just sighs and I followed along with Arisa.

     The next day at school we were getting ready for our sports festival. I was carrying out something heavy when all of a sudden I trip myself and was about to fall over but Ayato came and caught me and the heavy thing. "Thanks Ayato-kun."

"You shouldn't carry something heavy. I'll take it." He says and before I could protest, he grabs the heavy thing away from me. "Now listen to what I'm about to say." He says and got up on a table. "Yo, yo, yo! Listen up!" He shouts out to everyone.

"What is he doing?" Arisa asks as she stands next to me while the others listen as well. "No idea, he just told me to listen." I replied as confused as her.

"You all know who my girl is right?" Ayato starts. What the heck? That's what he's saying?

"Course we do!" I hear Yui-senpai replying back. "What is this? A confession?" She asks rolling her eyes. "Nah, it's a favor for all of y'all." Ayato replied. "And it has to do with Shay?" Takuma asks. Ayato nods. Everyone seems to be hearing him out.

"Shay's been getting hurt because we're dating. Them girls, for example, Hana, is insulting and threatening her if Shay doesn't break up with me." Ayato says. "Ayato." I quietly said. "Typical Hana, always wanting what she wants. You good Shay?" Yui-senpai asks. I nod in reply.

"Not before." Ayato adds. "So you want us to look out for Shay if anything happens to her like what Hana did right?" Yui-senpai asks. Ayato smiles. "You so know me." He says. "Course we'll do that!" Arisa shouts. "Good, that's all, thanks y'all." Ayato says with a big smile and went down as everyone got back to work.

"Thanks." I smiled. "Come on y'all, stop flirting, we need to help out with sports fest." Arisa cuts us off. "You don't see me and Takuma being lovey dovey do you? Come on Shay." She argues and grabs me anyways from Ayato.
