Chapter 15 - Alice
Do you know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man? Oh do you know the muffin man who lives on Drury Lane and makes REALLY GOOD MUFFINS?!? (Seriously, you should try them).
I hate being oblivious. Or the last one to know. Did I mention oblivious? Well, Humpty Freakin' Dumpty is Ross. Ross Wess. Me, Ash and Dani decided to help him...and now we were going to kill the king. I was still wearing the blue dress, and was secretly thinking we need some armour and ninja stuff. Is there a rhyme about ninja's?
"Well, I don't know about youguys, but I'm starving. Hum -- Ross, I mean, do you know anywhere to eat?" I was actually starving, considering I hadn't eaten since two days ago. Ross smiled mischievously.
"Well, I know someone on Drury Lane that makes the best muffins."
OH! The muffin man! I laughed exitedly and said,
"Ok, then, I'll go get brekfast."
I was too exited to ask Ash or Dani to come with me. Skipping out of the door, my nose breathed in the smell of the rain still to come. The tall, crooked buildings looked beautiful, and I wish I had a camera. Hopping around all of the tiny people was funny, them being just above me knee. Some were Chinese, some American, some African. It was like all of the countries had mixed together and then shrunk.
Finally I found it. Drury Lane. There was a small cutoff to the left, and a golden sign that pointed to it. Ivy was growing on the buildings, which were white, but almost covered. It seemed to be sunny despite the clouds, and a strange golden shine was everywhere. It smelled like caramel and mint...and then I saw it. The shop where legendary muffins were made. It was white and purple, with gold lettering that said THE MUFFIN MAN'S BEST. I walked in, seeing the perfect muffins and cupcakes and cookies, with all color frosting and intricate designs. The muffin man was standing behind the counter, with a smile on his face. But you could tell hard times were about.
"Hello!" I said cheerfully. His face darkened when he saw me.
"Alice. We've been expecting you. But nevermind. What would you like?"
"Uhmm, can I have four muffins and four giant cookies and four coffees?"
"Well, of course!" I could tell no on else ever ordered that much.
He hastily handed me a bag full of the items, when I noticed I had nothing to pay with.
"Ummm..."
"Reach in your pocket, darling."
I did, to find a handful of gold coins.
"One of those will do."
I gave one to him and smiled. This has been officially the best day of my life.
