A short chapter to start off me coming back and getting this story out to the people that care. Thanks for not cursing me out for taking forever with a update. Believe me when I say I'm trying to get this story done by the end of the summer. Also, I have another story. Its a bunch of short stories that comes froms ideas or dreams that I have. Don't judge my dreams them joints be wild tho. Anywho, check them out.
Em walked out that courtroom taking a couple deep breaths before she got herself fully together. After two long weeks, the judge was granting her what she wanted. The charges were dropped and her record was going be cleaned. As for Mia, she was going have a lost case of slandering on her records and was warned if she ain't leave Emerald alone it would be worse than a slap on the wrist. Emerald felt a weight she ain't know she was carrying being lifted off her shoulders. In that moment, the only thing she wanted to was run to August and fall in his arms. He has been her rock during this mess and surprising Emerald has become his shelter from his drama in his head. The way they managed to put aside their pride and open up to each other has been amazing. Emerald made it outside before being stopped by Mr. White, "You going to go see August." She just nodded as she dug in her purse frantically, "Here." Mr. White grabbed her purse getting her keys out and opening the door. "Em if I ain't know better I would've thought you just found out you were pregnant." Em snatched her head looking at Mr. White, "Don't do that." She said putting her keys in to start the car.
Emerald made it to his house and rushed inside. Running upstairs to see him sitting on the bed writing in his second journal. She walked up to him moving the book out his hands, "It's over." He smiled as she crawled in his lap like a child and took a deep breath feeling the ease of her body he held her tight. The court process was hard for Emerald. She was forced to talk about things that brought her to this moment. Starting at a time when Mia, August, Shawn, and Clark wasn't even in her life. For Emerald it's all connected, she is the person she is now because of a lesson she learned from the past. The hurt, confusion, and emptiness one can feel when you love. She had to remember what made her focus so hard on herself and her dreams. Being in that court she was forced to remember why she kept people at a distance and what it felt like to be betrayed by someone that you thought was a friend. Things were different though, she was in a relationship that she appreciated and loved. She had to learned that she couldn't get in her crawl space and shut down. She had one person that was honestly there for her and wanted nothing but the best for her. Her crawling into his arms is her way of saying thank you. Thank you for this whole summer. Admitting that he was wrong for how he treated her, her understanding that sometime s you just need to listen, and overall just being. Their summer was more and everything they excepted, but they ain't rush it. They went with the flow.
Now it was coming to an end and Emerald had one more week before she headed back up North to the books. They talked about this moment but no one can plan for everything. They just knew communication had to stay open and ego had to stay at the back burner. Secretly, they both was ready for this time away from each other. It would tell them both if this is worth it and how much would the other work for this to work. They didn't have doubts in their commitment, but face it they both have been hurt at some point in their lives. So, this right here was something they wanted and was happy to see this working. They stayed laying in the bed until August realized that Em was knocked out in his arms. He turned her body so she was hugging on the body pillow. He stood up taking one last look at her before making his way downstairs.
He looked at the time to see it was almost time for him to head out. He had some business to handle and needed to be on time. He got his stuff and left a note for Emerald saying he would be back later on. With that he was heading out the door.
Emerald woke up to see that it was getting dark outside. She ain't realize how tired she was until she opened her eyes. She looked around the room for August, but figured he was probably downstairs somewhere. She slid to the edge hoping that putting her feet on the floor would wake her up. After a couple seconds, she started to strip out of her clothes and got up to head to the bathroom. She turned on the shower to take a hot steaming shower. She finished stripping out of her clothes before stepping in the shower. As she lather up the soap on her body, she found herself humming Hold You Down by Jlo and Fat Joe for some reason. She knew the last time she heard that song was a minute ago, but she sung like she just heard yesterday. She was in her zone so she didn't hear August come in listening to her. "You in your feelings tonight." She let out a welp, "August why? You scared the fuck out of me." She said from the shower trying to catch her breath. He laughed a little, "My bad ma. You in here singing sounding all happy and stuff." She smiled as she continued to wash, "I am. Where was you downstairs?" "Nah, I just got back in the house. I had to go handle some business while you was sleep." "Oh, everything fine." "Yeah, you don't need to sound worried. But I got you something to eat." "Thank you. I'm almost done in here." "Okay, I will be waiting." She laughed as he walked out back into the room.
