Outside's Eyes

Emerald was walking in the house after another day at work. She was going be stay home tonight instead of going over August's house like she has been doing lately. As she got inside, she started to strip out her clothes and figure out what she was going cook for dinner. Settling on some Mexican food, she started to pull out the ingredients to get started but stopped once there was a knock at the door. She went to look out the peephole to see Greg standing there. She debated if she was going open the door, but after seeing him look unsure about knocking she opened the door. Hey was the only thing they both said before an awkward silence took over. "I saw that you was home and thought I'll come by and say hey." "Yeah, just got home from work and just started to cook." "What you cooking?" "Mexican food." He nodded. Emerald knew why he was standing at her doorstep but she wasn't going be the first to bring it up. So, she stood there with nothing to say to him. She was still upset at him for going off on her. As soon as he found out that Em knew that his ex-girl was cheating on him and for a long period of time, he went at her neck. Emerald let him talk crazy because she knew it was because he was embarrassed above all, but she ain't let it slide either.

"Emerald, I really wanted to apologize for how I came at you." She nodded, "It was unnecessary for me to be talking to you like that when you was just trying to stay out the whole thing. But you have to understand that I felt betrayed by friend." Emerald sighed, "How about you come in so we can have this discussion." She stepped back so he could come in and she closed the door. "Greg, I understand why you went off, but my problem with you is you went off on the wrong person. I wasn't the one cheating on you, your girl was and then after that, you still acted cold towards me." "It took some time to noticed one." "Greg, you knew you were wrong as soon as I walked away from and avoided you all this time." He nodded because he knew she was right, "The day when you came to see me and talk was that the day you found out." "Yeah." "So, didn't you just tell me then." "Because I was giving your girl the option of letting this not be so messy. I don't do messy and wasn't trying to stay clear of someone getting there heartbroken." "Heartbroken?" "Yes, Greg don't act like you ain't love that girl. You wanted to marry her. Meanwhile, she was out here doing her. I know how that can feel." Emerald said from the kitchen as she cooked. "I would've took it better if I would've known then instead I found out in front of everyone." "Blame your girl for that." "Em, you had some play in that. You could've been the bigger person."

"Now, Greg you have known me for a minute now and you know when I'm pushed I don't hold back. She wanted to sit around like she was the angel and ain't nothing to do with me being in this situation. She was made she got called to testify oh well. She needed to man up and deal with it. Sorry, your feelings got hurt in the process but I wasn't about to let her get away scratch free." He shook his head, "Emerald, you were just being petty." "And ya act like ya wasn't being petty either. Her acting innocent and you snapping on me. Please, Greg you know you smelled the bullshit coming." She said getting heated over the situation. Emerald was not about to keep taking the blame for other people actions. Everyone was living in a lie but her. She ain't understand why people got to come after the person that was living in her truth. "Look, Emerald I didn't come over to go back and forth. I just wanted to apologize because I know I was wrong for going off on you like that. I missed coming over and talking with you and noticed that you were truly avoiding me." He said getting up to stand in front of her. She laughed, "I know I hurt you by putting ya business out like that and for that I apologize for. Now that other stuff, I ain't sorry about. You needed to know the hurt anyway." She said looking at him. "So, I can get my hug." She sucked her teeth, "You lucky we cool again." She said making him laugh. "Oyeah because I staying for the food." As soon as he said that, they heard the door opening and saw August coming inside. "Baby, what you cooking." "Mexican food," she said with Greg looking nervous beside her. "What he doing here?" "We cool August so chill. He apologized for coming at me sideways." "He better have talking like he lost his damn mind. I take it you staying for the food." "Yeah," Greg said as they gave each other dap. Emerald smiled at the way they made a truce.
