I sat back at the waiting area in the same chair I was sitting at before. I lifted my knees up to my chest, and wrapped my arms around them. Even though I had on warmer clothes, I was still freezing. I started to cough, and covered my mouth with my arm as I coughed. I laid back in the chair. I felt completely exhausted from all that's happened. I laid my head in my knees, and felt my eyes clothing. I slowly drifted off into sleep.
"Nicole, wake up," I heard Louis's voice. My eyes fluttered open, and saw Louis in front of me. I let go of my knees, and let them slide down the edge of the chair, and my feet touched the ground. I started to cough again, and I covered my mouth with my arm, to try and not spread germs. Louis looked at me suspiciously, "You okay?"
"Not really," I whispered, my voice hoarse. He frowned, "You sick?"
I shrugged, "P-Probably."
"Why?" Louis asked. My voice was barely working, and I saw Officer Amato looking over at me. I motioned for him to come over. He walked over to me, and I whispered, "C-Can you explain everything to Louis?"
He nodded, and told everything that happened to me. I would cough occasionally, and my throat hurt badly. I felt my body still shivering badly. Officer Amato was still explaining everything to Louis. He finally finished, and Louis looked over at me, "A-All that happened to you?"
I nodded, sadly. Louis looked at me horrified, "I-I'm so sorry! I should've paid closer attention to you! I ran upstairs, and saw you were gone, and went searching, but couldn't find you. I-I was so worried. I spent most of the night searching, and I was relieved when you called."
I nodded.
"We should probably go take you to a doctor. You're probably really sick," Louis said. I nodded, and Louis helped me up. Walking seemed to be hard, and my skin was still a bluish tone. I kept tripping, and I felt really weak.
"Are you sure we shouldn't see a doctor?" Louis asked, nervously. I thought for a moment, and replied, "I-I guess we should." My voice was shaking, and hoarse. Louis nodded, and put my arm around his shoulder, so he could help walk me out of the building. Louis led me over to his car, and helped me in. He went in the driver's seat, and started to drive out of the parking lot. There was an awkward silence as Louis drove. I'm not used to Louis being so silent. Something really must be bothering him. He's usually the one breaking the awkwardness by joking around, and making people laugh. But, this time he's the one who's silent. I glanced over at Louis, and he saw me looking at him. I heard him quietly sigh, "Nicole, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let you go upstairs alone."
"No," I whispered, my voice scratchy, "I shouldn't have gone up."
"Let's just say it's no one's fault," Louis said, and I nodded. Louis continued, "You've been through enough in one day to fill someone's lifetime."
"... Niall?" I asked, quietly. Louis was silent for a moment, then replied, "He hasn't woken up yet. I took them to the hotel we're staying at for the night. Everyone but Liam was drunk, so when we took them to the hotel room, they all sort of crashed. The only one I explained everything to was Liam. He sort of flipped out. Then, I went searching for you. Liam had to stay there to look over the boys. Right now, some police officers are searching the house. They are going to search for your Grandfather after. The house should be fixed up in a few days, then we can go home."
I nodded, and didn't say anything else. So, Niall isn't up yet... I don't want to have to talk to him. I'm scared to know how he'll react to everything last night. What about the break up? What is he thinking about that? I'm almost scared to know what he's thinking....
Louis pulled up into the parking lot of the hospital. He carefully helped me up, and helped me walk into the building. Louis checked us in, and we sat down in the waiting area. We didn't say anything, we just silently waited for our turn. We were called in, and Louis helped me up. We walked in, and we sat down. The doctor came in, and introduced himself, and started the check up. After a few minutes, he finished examining me.
"Well, Nicole, it turns out you have a moderate case of hypothermia," The doctor explained, "Also, your toes have been frostbitten. I have some medicine that can help cure that. But, would you mind how you got so frozen?"
Louis had to explain the story to the doctor, because I was losing my voice. I listened to Louis's explanation, and so did the doctor. The doctor listened carefully, nodding occasionally. Louis finished the story, and the doctor looked over at me, "Well, I can see you've been through a lot. Also, you have laryngitis, and you've lost your voice. You got laryngitis from the fever you've developed. You won't be able to talk for a while because of the laryngitis. Unfortunately, you have a lot of different sicknesses from being out in the freezing cold. I'll prescribe you some medicine, but the best cure is to keep warm, and get some rest. If anything is wrong, just come back here."
I nodded, and the doctor got us the medicine. We were allowed to leave, so we left. My walking had improved, so I could walk on my own. We got in the car, and Louis drove us over to the hotel. We got out, and Louis pulled the key to the hotel room out of his pocket, "The hotel room is on the second floor..." Louis mumbled, almost like he was speaking to himself. We walked into the hotel, and took the elevator upstairs. We reached the second floor, and got out. We walked down the hallway, and over to a room. Louis stuck the key into the door, and unlocked it. We walked in, silently. We looked in the room to see Zayn, Harry, and Niall on different beds passed out.
"We're staying in the room next door," Louis whispered, beckoning to the door on the side of the room, connecting the two rooms. I nodded. I grabbed a pad of paper on the side table, and the pen, and quickly scribbled down: Did any of my clothes survive?
Louis nodded, "Yeah, a bag of your remaining items are in your room."
I nodded, and walked over to my room, and Louis followed. I grabbed a sweater, and pair of pajama pants with some socks. I went to the bathroom, and turned the shower on full blast. I made the water to the hottest level, and stepped in. The hot water drenched my skin, slowly relaxing my tense muscles. I washed my hair and body, and stepped out. I quickly put on my warm sweater and my pajama pants. I didn't care that it was only around noon, I needed sleep. I slipped on a pair of fuzzy socks, and left my up. I walked out of the bathroom, and saw Louis laying on his bed.
"Going to sleep?" He asked. I nodded, and trudged over to my bed. I crawled into the covers. I was exhausted, so sleep came easily to me. My eyes grew heavy, and I fell asleep.
