After a while everyone began to go home. Once every one was gone Mykie and I started to help my mom clean up.
"So what did you think?" I asked Mykie.
"About what?" She wondered.
"My family."
"Oh they were nice, your grandma is a sweet heart." She commented.
"I'm glad you like her."
"Yeah..." She trailed off.
It took us a while but we finally finished cleaning. After we finished my mom went upstairs to her room but me and Mykie stayed down stairs and rested on the couch.
We held hands and she had her legs resting on mine. To anyone else it would of seemed like a nice atmosphere but to me it was the worst. Where as most couples could sit in silence and just enjoy each other's company, we weren't like that.
An atmosphere like this, meant something was wrong. How can I tell? Because we both love talking and when one of us isn't talking, something's wrong.
"Hey you okay?" I asked.
"No."
"What is it?"
"It's just. Seeing your family so happy, seeing how great of a life you have. I just wish...I wish I could have that." She stated.
"Why can't you?"
"You know why."
"Mykie, I know you don't have the best home life, but that doesn't mean you don't have family."
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"Take Caleb for example. He's always been there for you, or Mason you two have gotten pretty close. Or me. Mykie even if you don't have anyone else, I'll be there, I'll be your family." I pulled her closer to me.
"Thank you Daniel."
"Listen Mykie, when I told you that I loved you the other night I meant it. And even if you can't say it back right now that's fine, I'll wait. But there's something I need to ask officially, that I can't wait for." I announced.
"What?"
"Mykie Anderson, will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" I waited a few seconds for an answer but then Mykie gave me the biggest smile and hugged me so tightly, to tightly.
"I'll take that as a yes then." I said out of breath.
"Haha, yes." She pulled away and looked at me then suddenly we were kissing.
We kissed for awhile then I pulled away to catch my breath.
"I love you."
"I love you too." Ok needless to say, that made me smile.
"Wait, is that for real? That's not just pressure that's real?" I teased.
"Yes, Daniel it's real."
"Really? Because I don't want to start this relationship on lies."
"Daniel." She said a little annoyed and I stood up.
"No, you look me in the eyes and tell me it's the truth." I kept on joking.
"Daniel, I-love-you." She said seriously and glared.
"Oh, that's music to my ears." I bent down and hovered over top of her.
I kissed her cheek, then the other one, then her forehead, nose, mouth...neck. She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me back up to her lips.
The kiss was slow and steady at first but soon enough it became lustful and hungry. My hand started to move up her leg, hip, shirt, but she quickly stopped me.
I broke away and gave her a confused look.
She shook her head as if to say "Not yet." I nodded and got off her.
"Thank you, for understanding." She said gratefully.
"No, don't worry about it. If you're not ready you're not ready. I'm not going to force you." I said.
"How is it that the jackass I met only a few months ago turned into the most amazing person I've ever met." She said.
"Maybe I was always amazing, you just didn't know it." I teased.
"Ha, ya sure."
"Haha, hey it's getting late we should get to bed." I said and she nodded.
"Okay, but I don't want to move." She said.
"But we got-"
"No. Just stay here with me." She said and snuggled close and I chuckled.
"Okay, good night." I whispered.
"Good night." She answered.
And with that we both drifted off to sleep.
