The whole world fell silent. Or maybe Clary’s hearing was just cut off. It was like her mind needed to process the information she just heard so it cut off her hearing. She saw Jace moving towards her, and he started to shake her. His mouth was moving to but Clary didn’t hear what he said. She was flying away like balloon from a little kid that loses its grip. Suddenly she was with both her feet on earth again, Isabelle and Jace were moving to Idris. They were leaving. “Clary, Clary. Are you okay Clary? Can you tell us that you’re okay”, Jace was almost screaming. Yup, her hearing seemed suddenly fixed too. “Yeah, I’m just fine”, Clary snapped at Jace. She didn’t mean to make it sound so angry but she couldn’t help it. Clary turned to Isabelle and said: “why are you moving? Tell me everything, please.” Isabelle sighed, “You might as well sit down Clary because you still look like you’re going to faint.”
Jace couldn’t help it, but he worried about Clary. He didn’t protest now Izzy told her the whole story. Izzy might tell it better than he would. So Jace sat down too and looked at Clary, he didn’t really pay attention to what Isabelle was saying. He already knew that Robert was going to be the new inquisitor and blah blah. Jace just looked at Clary. He taught of Clary in her silvery green dress at the wedding of Luke and her mom. Her eyes looked beautiful with that dress, but actually they always did. Her hair had been hanging loosely on her shoulder, the way he likes it. The wedding had been nice but Jace mostly remembered Clary. After the wedding Jocelyn and Luke went on honey moon of course. At first Jocelyn didn’t want to leave Clary home alone, but Luke convinced her with a bit help from Clary. Clary was supposed to sleep at Simon’s. But one night Clary didn’t care about her mother’s rules and she stayed at the institute. That had been the second night Clary and Jace shared a bed together. That night in Idris only their hands had been touching but now a whole lot more was touching. Clary slept curled up in his arms that night, not much more happened. But Jace did not really care, it Clary wanted to wait then he was fine with it. He wasn’t going to push her. Clary slept in one of his shirts, which was like a dress for her. Jace just watched her sleep, she looked so peaceful while she slept. Clary still had one of his shirts, or maybe two. “Because it smells like you”, Clary had said with a cute blush. By then he had been kissing her already. Jace never got tired of kissing Clary. “Why can’t you stay here?” Clary asks. And Jace is listening again. “Because we are still under-age. Alec is staying here. But we have to go to Idris, mom wanted to stay but I have this idea that the clave still not fully trusts us. Neither mom nor Jace.” Clary let that sink in for a moment. “So now why did you break up with me Jace Herondale?” Jace looks up and looks into Clary’s green eyes. “I was desperate, I didn’t want to hurt you by leaving and you deserve a life here while I leave.”
Clary couldn’t believe this, and started yelling: “You could have told me and let me decide myself if I wanted a life without you. You know this for already a week, don’t you? And Isabelle you know this for a week too, you could’ve told me!” Isabelle defended herself: “Jace wanted to tell you himself, no one was allowed to talk to you about this before he told you. Even Jocelyn knew.” Clary stared at them both for a moment. “Simon”, she said. “Does Simon know yet?” Clary couldn’t believe that even Simon lied to her. “No”, Izzy looked down. “I still have to tell him.” “And what are you still doing here then iz? go tell him, call him, whatever. No more excuses now.” Isabelle knew Clary was right and she stood up. “You two still have to make up.” And with that said she leaves to her room to call Simon.
Jace knows that he should apologize, but he doesn’t know where to start. “I already miss you, you know that? Why can’t we try a long distance relationship? Or I could come with you?” Clary starts. She’s talking faster and faster: “or I could just portal myself to you every day, I can make portals. You can’t break up with me; I’ll wait here for you Jace.” “Clary, I love you.” Suddenly Clary can stop talking and stares at Jace. He goes on: “you can’t come with me to Idris, your mom will hate me forever. And remember the last time you portaled yourself to Idris? You almost died in Lake Lynn. I don’t want to lose you Clary, I’ll buy a mundane phone thing. Whatever it takes.” Clary’s mouth is on his already, Jace lies back in the grass. “I love you too”, she murmers.
