Jace wakes up disoriented. His arm is asleep because something is lying on it, but when his eyes adjust to the light he sees that it isn’t something but someone. Red hair is spread around her head. Clary. Then he remembers last night, a smile spreads on his face. Very slow and very careful Jace removes his arm from under her head. “Good morning sleeping beauty,” she whispers, not moving or opening her eyes. Clary giggles: “You were in a coma or something.” Jace likes her giggle, Clary is not a girl that giggles a lot. “I had a busy night Fray,” Jace says. He can’t see Clary’s face but knows she is blushing. Jace leans over so he can see her face and kisses her. “What time is it?” “11 am, last time I checked it,” Clary answers. That wakes Jace up. “What? Couldn’t you have woken me up or something?” “No, you’re too cute when you’re asleep,” Clary says while she kisses Jace again. Jace sits up straight. “Jeez Jace, leave it,” Clary says while pulling him down on his bed. “Don’t shadowhunters ever sleep in? And even if they never do, who cares about that today? You’re leaving tonight, right?” Jace nods. “What were you gonna do all day?” “I don’t know. Pack, maybe train,” he answers. “And where in your plans does that leave me?” Jace looks up in Clary’s green eyes “Or just stay in this bed with you all day,” he finishes. But Clary has other intentions. “Sounds good to me, but I am starving.” Clary starts the search for clothes; Jace just admires it all still lying in his bed. “Jace, move your lazy ass. Have you seen my shirt?” Jace picks up one of his own and gives it to Clary. “I prefer you with no shirt at all.” Clary blushes at that. “We could have breakfast at Taki’s?” Jace suggests. Clary nods and Jace leaves to the bathroom. Her shirt is nowhere to be found. In her own jeans, one of Jace smaller shirts and her own jacket Clary looks around in Jace’s room. It’s a total mess and that is so not Jace. Clary sighs, why always the Clave. Clary is one of them and she knows that she isn’t allowed to talk like that. But still, they ruin it for her and Jace every time.

With only a towel around his waist Jace walks out of the bathroom. “Finally,” Clary sighs. “What took you so long? I am so hungry.” Clary throws a shirt at Jace. Now Jace looks around the room. “Yes, I cleaned it up here. We will finish it later.” “We?” Jace asks. “Yes, it is pretty clear that you can’t pack your own stuff. You can save the world Jace, but pack your clothes it too hard?” Jace looks a little offended. But Clary is already at the door and says: “Are you coming or not? And eh Jace, maybe some pants?” “Do you find this distracting?” he asks. “You wish,” Clary replies while already opening the door. Hand in hand they walk through the hallways towards the kitchen.

“Good morning sleepyheads,” Izzy greats them. “You two fell asleep late I guess?” she asks. Clary blushes, but Jace never misses a beat. “Well we had more fun than you I guess.” Clary quickly changes the subject; “We are having breakfast, well more of a brunch, at Taki’s. Do you want to come?” Jace looks at Clary; he preferred a brunch with him and his girlfriend only. Nothing Jace does is left unnoticed by Clary, so she says: “Come on Jace, it could be fun. Act a bit sociable you.” And to Izzy she continues: “ask Simon to come to Iz, and have you told him about the whole you know-” Izzy doesn’t let Clary finish her sentence, which she is grateful for. “Yes, I told him last night. Wait here; let’s say we’re leaving in 10 minutes?” Clary nods and Izzy hurries to her room.

Jace sits down and pulls Clary on his lap. “Why take everyone in account, Fray? We could have had fun with just the two of us?” But Clary isn’t in for his protest. “So with four, that is twice as much fun. I promise you I won’t leave your side until you dissolve in your portal tonight, okay?” “Okay,” Jace mumbled against her lips. Too soon for Clary’s sake Izzy walks in and they break their kiss. “Come on lovebirds, Simon is already waiting.” As promised, Clary doesn’t let go of Jace’s hand. Not even when she hugs Simon as they’re walk out of the institute.

Clary and Simon hugging is after all for both of the Lightwoods still a bit of a sore point. Neither of the two hugging ones notices that though. “Good morning vampire, you look like were run over by a truck,” Jace teases, well maybe it’s not really teasing and Jace is bloody serious. “Good to see you too Jace,” Simon growls. Clary sighs and shakes her head. “Childish,” she mumbles. Clary walks in the direction of Taki’s, making the others follow her. With Jace at her side she takes the lead, Simon and Isabelle following them. They are a bit behind whispering about something, Isabelle is remarkably quiet. Well, Clary will worry about it later.

Once they have found a place in the restaurant, Clary looks at her best friend. Jace was right, he looks bad. She asks: “Simon, you do look bad. Is there something wrong?” Izzy answers for him: “Guess where I found him. You know that bench, outside the institute? He fell asleep on it last night.” Everyone except Simon laughs. Izzy goes with her hand trough his hair, which only makes it messier. Completely herself again Izzy plants a kiss on Simon’s cheek, whispering; “I think the messy look is kinda sexy on you.”
