The trip to the village of Honkami was, and myself, Joey, and Noble all were thankful for, was uneventful which attested to the two Ronins dedication to eradicating the bandit threat that had plagued this area. The village was a large village at best and had palisades and a few towers erected around it and as our forces camped out outside the village, I watched as my men begin to erect barriers and barricades around our camp while Nobles and Joeys all seemed to somewhat mill around while some slowly erected a camp.
Currently, myself, Joey, and Noble all sat in erected chairs within a large tent that had been set up in the center of the two camps and allowed us commanders to privately chat and plan out on a nearby map table.
"Your men seem to somewhat enjoy... being under your command.." said Joey as he watched many of the Ashigaru prepare sentry spots around the camp.
"Well.. lets just say a mixture of circumstances and my treatment of them help do that..." I said as I watched my officers going amongst the troops and giving out commands and orders.
"Probably also the fact you have officers under your command." said Noble as his created bosom on his chest jiggled.
"That makes me wonder why none of you have officers under your command.." I asked them as they looked at me.
"Em... most officers are expensive to get, since they are Ronin." said Joey.
"Mine were former soldiers. I have found them to be great help in not only advising me but also keeping the men in check.." I told them as I was eating a little bit of fruit.
"Hmmm. interesting..." said Joey as he looked around before he then asked, "Say, you have some cavalry men pretty early, don't you think?"
"Well, when they are trained by a former Takeda cavalry man, its worth it. Plus, with cavalry, I can strike an enemy early, raid them, or at least scout them out before my main force appears is a advantage I cannot let go easily." I said to them.
Joey and Noble both nodded as they understood and as they slowly ate their bowls of rice, I then asked them, "Say.. how did you both become Ronin?"
They both looked up at me as they quickly swallowed their food as Noble said, "We became Ronin after we killed two bandit samurai and were rewarded with new armor and our own blades."
"Hmph. Sounds almost easy." I said as I finished off my fruit.
"Almost. Even alone, one nearly took my head while Joey was almost disemboweled... but now, with some of our forces, we've been able to do a lot of help." said Noble.
"My personal opinion says 10 yumi's and 40 yari's doesn't seem very balanced. I cant really critique much myself but I think we all need to start looking over the composition of our forces and planning them out." I told them.
"Agreed. All of the main clans could wipe us out from afar with yumis or matchlocks..." said Joey as he then got up and walked to the table.
Myself and Noble both got up and walked over as Joey began to take wooden, colored pieces and began to arrange them around as he then said, "From what rumor has it, currently Oda General Katsuie is marching a force of a mere 150 Owari foot soldiers to Minakonai to begin its occupation, if we could call it that.. Oda leaders Nobuna and Nobunaga are currently towards the north, taking on the Takeda fort just north of Watamoto as it has come under control of some rater nasty minor clansmen.
"The Oda General Yoshiharu, or also known as "the Oda Monkey", leads 100 foot soldiers to the west to attack the Tokugawa town of Yakuwara. The Viper of Mino is currently in Watamoto as he is gathering recruits for another army and then finally we have the Oda General Nagahide slowly making her rounds over the many villages, like Kurigawa and Naramaki, collecting men and resources along with making sure the peace is kept."
