Jolting awake, I sat up, causing a sharp pain in my ribs. Looking down, I saw I still had the wrappings around me, but instead of the bandages being pure white, my right side had a blackish-red look. "Ah,shit." I muttered, looking around. Seeing that I was in what appeared to be a guest room, I looked over to my right, seeing if my gear was still there. Seeing that it was, I stretched out, snatching the katana from the pile. Slipping it under the sheet, I lay back down, relaxing. I lay there for a few minutes, enjoying how comfortable that bed was, when I heard the door creak open. Tensing up instinctively, I cringed slightly from the pain, watching carefully. The door slowly opened, and Ms.Shizuka stepped in with Takashi, Ms.Shizuka's arms laden with medical supplies. "How do you think he's doing?" Takashi asked as they approached the bed. "The wound should be healing nicely. Its been a few days since he's been here, so there should be time for the slice to close up and heal." Shizuka replied, setting down her supplies. As they got closer, I sat up, scaring them. "Quinton! Your alive!" Takashi exclaimed, rushing to my side. "Yea. Kinda hard for me to die when I got people to see, and places to go." Chuckling at my humor, Takashi checked my bandages, and noticed the blood. "What happened?" He asked, inspecting the blood. "I got caught unaware by a zombie. Got sliced on a piece of rebar. It hurt like hell." Nodding, Takashi looked past Ms.Shizuka and at the door. "Okay. You can come in now." Movement was heard behind the door, and it burst open, revealing Saeko and Katya. Even though they both looked totally different, Saeko in a traditional kimono, Katya in a long sleeve shirt and jeans, they both had the same look I've seen them give their opponents during competitions. The "I'm going to hurt you in so many ways" kind of stare. "Um... you wouldn't let them hurt me, right?" I pleaded, looking at Takashi. He merely shrugged. "Its either you, or me. I prefer you." Walking to the door, he left a medical kit on a small table. "Be sure to patch him up." The girls advanced on me as the door shut. "You wouldn't hurt a poor, injured guy, now would you?" Instead of speaking, I received two slaps to my face. One from Saeko on my left, one from Katya on my right. "Ow. OK. I deserved that." I grumbled, rubbing my face. Apparently they weren't finished, because then I got two hefty punches to my shoulders. Thinking they were done, I sat up. Before I could utter a word, Katya reeled off one good shot to my gut, making me double over in pain. "Not... Needed." I gasped, winded. Sucking in air, I straightened up, looking at each of them. "OK. I'm sorry for not telling you my plan. It was the only way to get you guys out of there. So..." I stalled, reaching for the katana. "I got you, Saeko, a new sword. It was at a shrine a few miles from here." Saeko accepted the gift, trying not to smile. Turning to Katya, I grinned. "Now don't think I forgot you." Reaching into the pile, I pulled out dual bowie knifes, the blade and handle made into one piece. "I figured its a thank you gift as well, considered you saved my sorry tail so many times." Katya took them, not bothering to hide her smile. "So are we cool?" I asked, inching towards Saeko. They both looked at each other, and nodded. "Yea." Katya said. "Just don't ruin this thing I have pictured for you two." "Yea,yea. I know. Don't ruin Saequin." I said, reaching out and pulling Saeko to me. Ignoring Katya's mischievous smile, I cupped Saeko's face, pulled her gently down to me, and kissed her. After that, I got up,stumbling only for a moment. Heading for the door, I went to check out the new place I would call home... For now.
