"Where the hell have you been?" Embry demanded when they got in the door of Sam and Emily's.
"Getting breakfast." Jean said smoothly. His eyes narrowed suspiciously, but all the same he spun around and threw his troubles into bacon strips.
"So, what're we doing on this lovely Sunday?" Quil asked.
"I'm doing some homework, then some studying, then I'm getting a graduation dress, and-"
"Graduation? It's 3 months away!" Paul whined.
"You don't have to come, don't worry. Enough with the whining. I'm just getting a head-start."
"Why? Hoping your height will catch up someday?" Quil teased.
"You can eat your eggs, or you can wear them- your choice, Quil Ateara." She said coolly and she pushed herself away from the table at the sound of Kim's horn.
"Kim's here?" Jared perked up.
"Yep."
"And she didn't tell me?" He said quietly.
"Don't think on it too much," She patted his shoulder, waved to the others, and set off.
They went straight to Port Angeles and picked out dresses with all the accessories. Jean kept it simple since an ugly blue robe would be covering it up anyway, but the dress looked great nonetheless:
Kim picked out one similar only with spaghetti straps and a longer, swaying gown piece. It was perfect for the hot weather, too. After that Kim dropped her off at her house, and she went straight to her room. She stored her dress in her closet and went to her dresser. She picked out the typical pair of pajamas (A dark blue tanktop with red and blue plaid pajama pants) and went to change, but stopped short.
"Jake- what the-" There was Jacob, sitting in the middle of her bed with his hands behind his head.
"Enjoying the show." He said simply, and he smirked the Jacob-smirk and slid off the bed. He wound his arms around her waist and kissed her passionatly. She kissed back, but then broke away.
"Do you realize what would've happened if I didn't see you?"
"I'd be a very happy werewolf." He grinned.
"Well, yes, but I'd be a very embarrased human."
"And very beautiful at that," He whispered in her ear and he trailed kisses down her neck.
She tipped her head back, but brought it straight up- drew in a few shaky breaths, calmed down her heart, and then took a few steps back.
"No, we need to- to- to-"
"To make out."
"No, that- that- thing! With the books!"
"Studying?"
"That!" She pointed a finger at him.
"No, I don't think so."
"Yes, I think so. Stay or go." Then she giggled.
"What?"
"Should I stay or should I go. . ." She sang and then she grabbed her pajamas and changed in the bathroom.
"And she chooses those pajamas at a time like this." Jacob mumbled under his breath.
"What? I tempt you?" She teased and she picked up a mathbook. Two hours later, she got so frustrated that she threw the book straight at the wall, only to chip the purple pain that was there. "Crap, now mum'll kill me."
Jacob was too busy laughing to apply himself to bigger situations, so she rolled under her bed and got out a 30 Seconds To Mars poster and taped it over the chipped paint. She stood back, admiring her clever work and then she went back to get some English done.
Before long, Jake was too wrestless to continue- and by restless she means kissing every reachable part of her, stroking her hair, tickling her, and taking her books out of her hands. It got to be too much and she gave in.
She leapt on his stomach and straddled his hips with her knees. He laughed a few times, but was cut off by her lips. After a few long kisses, only broken to breath, she stopped and sent him out. She got some sleep, then.
..............
The three months until Graduation passed quickly and eventually, it was time to go. Time to graduate, time to get their diplomas. Jean had done very well on all her exams- even math earned a grade in the B range. Jacob and the rest of the pack did, surprisingly, above satisfactory, too. She slid into her dress, zipped it up.
She curled her hair from it's original straight style, so that it was in wavy, tight, curls. She layered her eyes in a silvery-white eyeshadow, a frosty pink lipgloss, and a small bit of blush. She got into the long blue robe and ran out to meet Jake and the guys in his Rabbit. It was almost like a regular day at school, Embry even got his five-minute warning.
They pulled into the school parking lot and went around to the field where it was being held. There were hundreds of small white, fold-out chairs and a small stage with a single podium. It was pretty impressive for La Push, but Jean was afraid that barely a hundred people were even in the town at the moment.
"Ready to graduate?!" She asked leaping up and down between Jacob and Embry. The guys were pretty close, Quil was up front and first and then there were a few others, then Jacob, Jean, Embry, and the rest of the pack like Paul and Jared were towards the end some more. When it was time to be called up, Quil stepped up the stairs and shook everyone's hand- then he improvised.
"I did it!" He yelled at the top of his lungs with both hands in the air. The whole audience broke into laughter. Jacob was next and he only did what was required and stepped off, he wasn't really one for an audience. Then Jean and Embry came.
"I'm going first, I"m oldest!" She said.
"I was always oldest-"
"No, you're just overprotective!"
"Forget ladies first!"
"That means I should go anyway."
"Urgh- just go!"
Jean stepped up and waved to Embry slightly mocking, and then she shook her principals hand and skipped down the steps to Jake. She took her seat beside him. She pecked his lips and admired her diploma. Then she watched the rest of her lugs of friends graduate as well, nobody else did anything special- except Jared blushing a deep red.
They mocked him, of course.
Later on they went over to her and Embry's house for a small gathering within the pack and when it started getting dark they went down to First Beach for a big bonfire once more. . .
Quil was right, they did do it- they graduated High School.
