She put the pen down as her mother called her.
She grabbed the leather bound journal and looked in the mirror one last time before shutting her door. The black dress looked good on her.
Black symbolized death and my regret.
I followed her, I could tell everyone thought she was a reminder of him, and I knew she felt like they were thinking about that.
She lied that night. No one knew what happened, and no cop would ever know the truth. Not yet, not ever.
Arriving at the cemetery I sat down with everyone else as if I belonged there. I didn't belong, if she knew I was here I'd be dead.
Her mother lost it as they got to the cemetery. She didn't. She was always strong, able to control her emotions.
She stood up before they shut and lowered the coffin into the ground placing the journal in his hands. I was glad I wore sunglasses even if it was overcast outside.
She smiled and I saw a tear run down her cheek. It took me all my restrain to not get up and wipe it away.
Once the funeral concluded she began to walk away not riding with her mother as it began to lightly sprinkle. I walked behind her until we were far enough away and I casually strode next to her for a few moments before she turned to me and stopped.
"It's been a week almost, why did you show up now?"
The tone of her voice told me she wasn't okay, she seemed to talk through me, as if I was an empty space.
"You should know why." I was quick to the point.
She countered my statement, "Know why what?"
"Oh.." I said realizing he never told her.
"There's something you're not telling me, spill now! Its the least I deserve."
I shook my head.
"Why won't you tell me?" She asked the pain inflicted upon her came out in the tone.
"Can't say, not for me to tell."
She punched me, I guess I deserved that. It didn't hurt me, hurt her more.
"FINE! I don't care, if he wakes up anyway I told him to leave me the HELL alone."
I watched her storm off and the rain let loose.
