I remembered what happened that night. I wasn't exactly sure what happened before Michael and I showed up, but I saw my best friend in a position that I never wanted her to be in.

My phone began to ring in the middle of the party. My sister looked at my wondering why my phone was ringing in the middle of her birthday party.

It was Kenzie. If it wasn't dozen of texts before he call I would have ignored it. It was around 5 pm and it was the first day of summer vacation.

Ariel loved that school always let out right before her birthday.

Kenzie was at a Summer on the Beach party, she never drank. But I worried about the others who did.

I looked at Ariel she was turning five. I kissed her forehead and I grabbed Michael's arm. His brothers twin had just been killed, but the other five year old still wanted to come to the party. Ariel and Caleb were how Michael and I were friends.

I picked up the phone and I said hello. She was crying. I could hear her sobbing.

She was running from something and I have no idea what, to this day I can't exactly remember what it was, only Michael knew.

She told me to meet her at the hidden lake she was fifteen minutes away.

Then the call ended. I don't know if she meant to end it or for some other reasons. We never found that phone again, and it was new so she went without a phone for months until her parents finally let her get a new one.

Michael told me all about what happened after I was "gone". Only weird part is he was speaking to my grave.

Anyways.

We left the part to go find her. It was only like five at night and it was clearly still light out. We raced to the hidden lake, she was there running looking back every so often. She tripped and we ran to her.

I stopped before I fell off the cliff. He kept running. Right across air it seemed to the other side. Now I don't remember much after this part.

He got Kenzie and managed to get her to the same side of the cliff as I was on. He ran a little further past me with her in his arms. The last thing I remember at the moment from that point was something black and heavy landing on me. I felt an immense pain from my neck to my leg. Then I smelled blood. I couldn't move the pain was unbearable.

I blacked out.
