Sugilite's pov

Once I got home, I slammed the door shut.

"I'm here!" I yelled into the dark living room that I never go into. "Not that you care." My fatter didn't answer, but I heard him shift on the couch.

"You're lucky she pays child support." I say. "Otherwise we'd be starving."

"Shut up." He finally says in a gruff voice. I put my bag on the floor and do something I haven't done in three years. I step into the living room.

"It's true, though. You drink because she's not here. Because you can. You spend half the money on the stuff." I step closer to him.

"Get the hell away from me!" he commands from his seat on the couch.

"And you know I'm right." I say, sitting down beside him.

"I said, Shut the hell up!" He screamed, bringing his hand up and slapping me across the face.

I sat in shock for a moment, before jumping up.

"I hate you! You never do anything for us and you blame us for everything! She was right to leave you! Her mistake was leaving us!" I ran out of the dark living room and into my room.

The house phone, which was in my room, rang. I picked it up furiously.

"Hello?" I asked angrily.

"Sugilite?" Yellow D asked.

"Yes?" I asked.

"Is your father there?" Immediately, I used my go-to excuse.

"He's at work. Can I take a message?"

"Well, I was wondering if the three of you would like to come to a dinner next week to discuss some issues students have been having with another student, Jasper. I understand your sister risk one of her usual targets?" I nodded, then remembered that she couldn't see me.

"Yeah, that sounds right. But, um, my dad works really late on weekdays. Would it be okay if only me and Amethyst showed up?" I asked.

"It'll do. Next Monday at six."

(A/N) Haha, completely unrelated!  I'm probably gonna do a short chapter about what happens on Thursday and then skip to Friday. I need to write about this party.
