Peridot's pov

"She's beautiful!" My eyes were wide with awe when I first laid my eyes on my sister. Yellen's were too, Centipeedle was a precious sight to behold.

"Now, you're sure you want to name her Centi?" Mother asked, for the thousanth time since the birth.

"Centi," Em cooed, warmly gazing at the newborn.

I had gone into a state of shock when Em went into labor, we had just returned from our mother's day brunch with Pearl and Lapis's families, so naturally Em's scream shocked me.

I didn't remember much, but the story was that Yellen helped Em to the car whilst mother grabbed the bags and I screamed like a complete Clod.

"She's amazing!" I exclaimed again. Centi was, in fact, beautiful. The small tuft of blonde, almost white hair the escaped from the blanket reminded me of my own hair. Her skin was darker than mine, but her bright green eyes were nearly identical to mine. Em chuckled.

"Are you ever going to stop complimenting her?"

"Neeeeeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer." I breathed. Yellen hit me in the arm lightly.

"You're such a dork!" I stuck my tongue out.

"Alright you two, let's give them some space." A nurse said, placing Centi in the clear plastic bed. "I think both of you would appreciate some sleep." Em nodded, and started to drift off as the nurse wheeled Centi away to the nursery.

"Where's mom?" Yellen asked, glancing around the room."

"I'm not sure?" I replied questioningly. Confused, we both exited to the hallway to find mother excitedly talking into her cellphone.

"Okay, okay. We'll see you shortly. Bye!" She ended the call and faced us girls.

"What was that about?" Yellen asked.

"We have one last stop to make." Mother announced. Yellen and I groaned, as it was getting rather late and we were exhausted.

"What is it now?"

"Blue just checked into the hospital. Her water broke."

Suddenly excited once more, Yellen and I raced down the halls with mother to find the room in which Blue was staying. We found it almost immediately, Lapis, Jasper, and Jasper's father sat in the hallway.

"Lapis!" Yellen called. Lapis perked up as we approached them.

"Yellen! Peridot!" She exclaimed, hugging us.

"How's your mom?" Yellen asked.

"In pain," Lapis stated. "We got kicked out."

"You're not all going to spend the night at the hospital, are you?" Mother asked.

"Huh? Of course not!" Jasper's father said irritably. "I'm not stayin just because of a damn kid!" He growled. "I'm only here  because I had to drive the girls." Mother shifted, visibly tense.

"Why don't I take the girls overnight so you can stay here to support blue?" He rolled his eyes. Nobody rolled their eyes at mother.

"Fine. Just get them to school on time."

"Just... give me a call if anything happens while we're gone." The five of us made our way out to mother's car.

"Your step father... I don't like him." I whispered to Lapis. She sighed.

"Yeah, me too."

And I thought about that a lot.
