When you Need a Little Love

"Officer..." I looked at his name tag. "Peeto, did you find anything that might clue us to where our mom and dad is?" 

"Yes. It's not very much, but we think it belongs to your parents. Take a look." He handed the clear plastic bag to Christina. 

"This is mom's ring." She annouces. 

"Where did you find this?" I ask the policemen. 

"Down in the dirt." My eyes widen. I looked back at them and only Mike, Christina, Lisa, and Amy knew what I was thinking.  

"What?" Dani asks. 

The older ones as in me too, ran out into the forest we were kidnapped to. We looked for some digging marks, but nothing. Not one mark. 

"What are you guys looking for?!" Alex said agitated. He was carrying Joey who was sleeping now. 

"You know how mom's ring was found in the dirt?" Amy quickly asks him. I continue looking. 

"Yeah." Amy looks to the ground. She look back at Alex. 

"You don't think..." Alex begins, but never finishes. 

"I don't know what to think." Amy says. 

Amy went back to helping us find any clues. 

I found something.
"GUYS! I found something!" 
They all rush over to me. 
"What did you find??" Lauren questions. 
"Marks." 
"What kind though?" Christina says. 

"I don't know." I didn't take my eyes off of them.
"Let me see." Mike made his way through our small crowd.

"I think these are lines." 
"Lines?" Dani's confused. 

"Did you guys find anything?" Officer Peeto asks.
"Yeah, kinda of." Mike tells him. 

"We found lines." 
He went to touch the lines. 
"It seems like something was set on it. It doesn't look like someone dug something up from this ground." 
"So, our parents are down there?" I say looking down at the ground. 
"I don't think so." 
"So where do you think they are?"
"I don't think they're here." 
"So they aren't here? Possibly somewhere safe in California?" Christina says hopefully.
"Ooh..Not California." He says. 
"America?" I say.
"Not in America, but somewhere far away." 
"FAR AWAY!?" Lisa shouts.
"I"m afraid so." 
"HOW?!" Lisa continues. 
"It seems like a box was placed here before and shipped in a helicopter to somewhere away or if you're lucky enough, still in America." 

We walked away to have a small family meeting. 

"OK, this might seem bad now, but it'll get better." Christina tried to make us feel better hence the word tried. 

"How?" Lauren was on the verge of tears. 

"When we find mom and dad." I say hugging her. 

We all had a group hug. 

"When the darkness leaves you lonely
Or the world tried to push you away
When your sky is looking troubled
You can count on me cause I'm gonna stay" Christina sings. She always know what we need. Music always makes us better.

"Put your worries in my pocket
I got a key so we can lock it 
I swear that I won't let them escape" I sing this time.

"Love its always worth it
Love everyone deserves it
It's the friend that you holds you're hand
When nobody understands
Love it wants to heal you love
And see the real you
But you have to open up when you need a little love" Lisa sings. 

"If there something you're in need of
You only have to let me know
I've got a shoulder you can lean on
And I'm always right up the road" Amy sings soulfully. 

"Put your fears in my pocket
I've got a key so we can lock it
You know I wont let them escape" Dani sings with the boys harmonizing. 

We together sing the rest of the song feeling the bit of normal back. 
"When you need a little love" We finish. 

We all got to go home and Christina sent us all to clean up. 
We were eating dinner with my cooking. The police came later that evening to check on us. 

They told us to call this number he gave us if we needed any help. 

They discuss deeper matters with Mike and Christina, but she won't let anyone else listen, not even me. 
Of course we all eavesdrop. 

"Mike-Christina. You guys do know your parents left a huge bill left right?" 

"Yes, we knew a long time ago." Christina answers. I totally forgot about that. 

"The government are willing to pay half of it, but it's still a lot left. Maybe you guys can have a fundraiser some sort?"

"Thank you. We'll think about." 

"My pleasure to help." They all stood up and shook hands. 

"GO, GO!" I whisper. We all raced upstairs. 

We hear the front door close. 

"WE KNOW YOU GUYS WERE LISTENING!" Christina yells. Shoot. 

We all went down the stairs. 

"What are you talking about?" I lied. 

"Katherine you wacko." 

"What?" 

"You lie horribly." Christina laughs. 

"Really?" I pout like any other sad 21 year-old.
