I hit my alarm clock then layed back down, yesterday was so fun after we finished dinner we went skating then went to get ice cream and ate it in the park by the lake; it was late when I got home and me and my dads phone was dead and we joked about my mom having a heart attack cause I was out so late.

"Alaina, get yo butt up right now no one told you to be out so late" I rolled my eyes she just mad because I like spending more time with my dad than with her

"I know you hear me if I come up there--" "I'm up ma" I yell as I get up to look for my clothes, I could hear my moms footsteps as she came up the stairs

"who the hell do you think you yelling at lil girl I will bust you in yo mouth keep playing with me" I grabbed my clothes and started walking to my bathroom

"don't walk away from me when I'm talking to you" she said grabbing my arm making me drop my clothes, I blew out a breath and started picking them up

"I hear what you saying, its just early and I'm trying to take a shower"

"yo dad is making you like this isn't he don't forget who took care of you for 17 years by myself" I rolled my eyes she really want me to feel sorry for her

"that's because you got my dad arrested and ran off with his cousin" she looked at me shocked

"yeah my dad told me the whole story, now if you'll excuse me I need to take a shower" I grumbled turning and walking to my bathroom,

"you don't know shit what you need to do is stay in a child's place fore you get hurt lil girl" I rolled my eyes and shut my bathroom door.

As I got undressed I looked at myself, I mean really looked at myself, maybe I could get some bleaching cream so I could be a little lighter I thought to myself I mean I like being a black girl but why do I have to be soo dark what guy is going to want me they only like light and white girls, I bet they'll be all over me if I was lighter "is you gonna take a shower now or later cause if you be late and I get a call from that school again" my yells banging on the door knocking me out of my trance "yeah ma"

I wipe away my fallen tears I didn't even realize that I was crying. The car ride to school was quiet I was lost in my thoughts from earlier "aye yo" I look up at Cam "huh"

"you cool ma you been quiet as hell and that's a first" I laugh hitting his shoulder

"see there you go but watch yo hands you keep hitting me imma hit you back" I roll my eyes

"but wassup ma how was the dinner with yo pops"

"It was good I learned a lot about him and vice versa" "word dats wassup I'm happy for you girl" he says reaching over and patting my head making me glare at him as we pull up to the school

"but aye check this out tomorrow after the cook out me and a couple of people from school heading out to the lake you rolling" I shake my head "naw ion know I might just study you know we got a math test coming up"

"pssh damn that ma you coming you can study on Sunday"

"ion know Cam I don't really fuck with your friends" "you ain't got to ma you can just chill with me come on ma we ain't getting any younger especially you i see them gray hairs"

I gasp "where"

"naw I'm just fooling but do it for me" he says making a baby face looking like puss in boots from Shrek

"alright ill come but you owe me" "cool ma anything you want" he better choose his words a lil more carefully I think to myself as I get out the car and start walking to class "wait Lainy painy"

I stop walking and roll my eyes at the nickname he gave me when we were younger "what cammy"

"man hush but imma pick you up at six for the cook out just pack your bathing suit with you" I scrunch my face up and start walking with Cam beside me

"why though" I say speeding up as I hear the bell ring "the lake duh dummy" he says smacking my head then running to math class with me on his heels

"aye aye no running in the halls" I hear a teacher yell but we don't stop till we reach Mrs. Jacksons class door.
