When we pulled up to my house my moms car was in the driveway

"well good luck" I looked at my dad confused "you're not coming in"

"naw me and your mom not on good terms and I don't feel like hearing her mouth, but I love you baby girl call me if you need me"

"kay" I said solemnly getting out the car, as I walked to the front door I could my dads car back out of the driveway I turned and waved bye to him

When I opened the door the house was quiet, I thought maybe my mom was asleep of course she wasn't I'm not that lucky

"Alaina get in here" I heard her yell from her bedroom

I took a deep breath then walked inside "yes ma'am"

"what happened and it better be important enough for me to have to leave my job to see what's up with you because you don't know how to act in school" she yelled as soon as I walked in

"I got into a fight with the girl who kept messing with me"

"why the hell are you fighting in school, and yall better not have been fighting over a boy"

"no ma'am she just kept messing with me I tried to leave but she wouldn't stop saying stuff"

"what stuff was she saying"

I started fiddling with my fingers "she was calling me names and stuff like that"

"what else" my mom said looking at me

"that's it but she's the girl that--"

My mom put her hand up for me to stop talking "you over here fighting because of what some girl said" I opened my mouth to say something "i dont wanna hear it people gone talk till the day you die fuck them you at school to get an education not to be fighting cause someone called you names"

"but ma"

"no shut up I had to leave work because your school called making me think something happened to you but all you did was fight, all I know is them grades better stay up let me see one bad grade and all hell gone break loose"

"I didn't just fight her because of words ma" I spoke up

"what else was it Alaina did she touch you"

"no but"

"it ain't no buts if she ain't touch you you should've just walked away"

"Ma this girl has been tormenting me for years I got tired of so I hit her in the face yes I know it's wrong but I don't regret it and you were the one that told me to fight back" I said getting irritated

"yeah but not at school you could've beat her ass here not at school what would've happened if you were arrested"

I shrugged my shoulders "I can't hear you speak up" my mom yelled

"I don't know ma but I honestly wouldn't have cared because all the hell she put me through I finally got to beat her up, she is the reason I couldn't look in the mirror at myself because I didn't want to see my black skin, I was disgusted with myself. I hated myself because of her she put me down each day, she broke my self confidence down till there was nothing left, but I won't let her hurt me anymore I'm not letting anyone break my happiness not Chynna not you or Jevoni can break me down anymore. That old Alaina that scared, hurt and depressed Alaina she's gone. Shes dead she's the one who killed her self because she was in so much pain"

I wiped the fallen tears from my face "now I'm here, my self esteem was broken into little pieces but I'm still here; and I'm going to be here for as long as I can and while im here I wont be taking ANYONES bs anymore this is me and if you don't like it oh well"

When I was done talking my mom looked at me proudly and stuck her arms out "nice to meet you Alaina I've been waiting for you to get here for years"
