Michael

-2 weeks, 3 days

"You're heart rate is incredibly high today," the doctor said, "even slightly higher than the resting rate of the average adult." That was probably because I was thinking of the previous night. Either my mother was totally oblivious to what was going on under her own roof, or she didn't mind because she knew it helped. I hoped that she both was oblivious and wouldn't mind if she knew.

"I've been... excercising more."

"Ah. Well, whatever it is, it's working. Also, a new medicine has recently become available to you, which is why I called to schedule this appointment. According to how well you're doing at the moment, I don't think you'll need it during the day, but if you take it every night before bed, it should help ensure that your heart rate doesn't drop too low in your sleep." I was pretty sure it wouldn't, but it was an extra precaution that I wouldn't mind taking. I had found a reason to live forever. And now that reason could get to sleep more easily, since he no longer had to worry that I would leave him in my sleep.

"How'd it go?" Luke asked when my mum and I went out to the waiting room, where he was reading a magazine that he quickly tossed aside.

"She says my heart's much faster than it was last time, and she gave me a new medicine for nighttime, just in case. I don't know how it works, but it's supposed to keep my heart rate up while I sleep."

"Why didn't you have that before?"

"It's new, I guess."

"Well, I'm glad you have it now." He came up and hugged me, then said in my ear so quietly that only I could hear (hopefully): "Although I hope you'll continue taking me as well."

I nodded.

THE END

A/N: If you love The Gays™, please read the book I wrote for the current #JustWriteIt wattpad challenge (LGBTQ+), L+. There have been no reads so far and it's not a fanfiction, but it's incredibly gay, hopefully humourous, feministic, and kind of adorable sometimes. It will get fluffy.
