Eight Year Later...

The sea is calm like his mind. But it was a calm before the storm. He knew that well.

He was returning home. The place where he left his past without a second glance.

Whether he felt happy or sad. He don't know. But one thing is sure, life was not going easy for this crippled captain. Clouds of problems are waiting for him in his homeland. He was not afraid. He is an army man. He had faced death closely many times. But his home is a place where he left his past as well as problems.
Still he missed the lush green English country side, his mother's food, warmth of his home and Cassie.

He missed her terribly. Was it love hidden in ashes or guilt of betrayal?

Her name tasted like a ripe sweet Indian mango in his lips. He missed her every day in his life. The one woman who still haunted him in his dream and life.

Even though he was married to Cynthia he always felt himself as adulterous man who still in heart madly love with his ex-love. He tried hard to forget her. But Cassie's smiling face still made his beat faster. He dreamt of her.

He was loyal to Cynthia and made her happiest woman who ever lived. But in his heart he was a cheater. He cheated Cassie when he dumped her and married her elder sister and left without any words. He cheated Cynthia by making love to her while letting his mind shamelessly wander to her sister.

He needs to apologize to her.
But he was sure his Cassie will forgive him once he explain his situations with Cynthia.
What made him dump her and marry the less beautiful sister? But that is not an easy task. Cassandra Greene was never easy woman. It took him great deal to make her fall for him. She chose him and rejected her rich admirers. But he broke her. He will never forget how red-eyed Cassandra was on his wedding. If looks could burn, he would have been burned alive on that day.

But one thought disturbed him greatly. Cassandra must have married by now.
Her beauty will fetch her an earl or a duke. She also must have a child to two by now.
He wanted to be father of her first child. The promises he made to her remained unfulfilled. He felt some ache in heart.
Ben felt an unknown jealously to the man who married Cassie. Even though he lost that right long back. Will her new husband allow him meet her?

He is now her brother in law. Not former lover.
He need her forgiveness. Cynthia may be dead but he had not moved on.

He felt Cassie's pain and anger of his betrayal even though he feigned ignorance at that time.
He knew well she won't forgive him that much easily.
Cassie who put fire on dress earl's daughter just because she flirted with him, is a vengeful woman.
But he will go any length to gain forgiveness.
Otherwise he couldn't live. And for her smile, he would do anything to see it again.
