Chapter 35 – Happy to See Me (Faith POV) Pt. 2

After another long weekend, Samson and I spoke for a bit more, before just turning on the record player and letting the soft music lull us into a peaceful sleep. Although sometime during the night, Samson began mumbling, "A-check Silas – do an A-check," the words repeated in a low grumble. The next morning when I woke, my head was on Samson's chest, my hand tucked between us, and his hand was just lying on my back. Sighing, I didn't want to wake up, or leave the warmth of the covers. "Don't want to wake up?" he mumbled sleepily.

"I hate the cold, I'm not used to it," I whisper back sleepily, stretching out and moving away from Samson, "I'll shower first," I said the room chilly against my skin when I leave the down comforter and Samson's warm body. Showering, washing my hair and conditioning it, I sit thinking over Samson's question, of why it didn't hurt for me to hear him in my mind, but it hurt with others. I didn't want to test it, but even in my sleep I feel like it was all I thought of.

It could be because we were mates, I thought at one point.

My second assumption was that after the weekend, when everyone had been panicked and calling out at once it broke the barrier, although I couldn't hear anyone right now, I wasn't trying to either. When I remembered that Samson still had to shower, I turned the water off, wrapping my hair and dressing before going out into the room, letting Samson enter.

Wrapping my hair up messily, I remained distracted, putting all my assignments in my bag, putting on my shoes and then still waiting. After last night with the words Taylor threw at me I wasn't at ease, Samson would be driving me to school so I didn't want to leave the room just yet and have to face everyone. Did they all want me gone like Taylor?

"What are you thinking about so deeply there?" Samson asked when he finally came out, dressed in black jeans and a black matching button up shirt, a towel in his hand as he dried his hair.

I shrugged, "Wondering if your family wanted me to leave – after what Taylor said..." his hand drying his hair stilled and his smile turned thin. "I thought we went over this last night? We want you here Fatima, the only reason Taylor wants you gone is because of my symmetrically attractive face," I nodded in earnest. Coming to stand right in front of me, he knelt down, "Don't worry about Taylor, Fatima. I want you here and so does the rest of my family, this is your family too," he said sternly.

"I already asked my mom and dad to make sure Taylor won't come here anymore, and she doesn't seem to bother us at school," Samson appears to hesitate, "Don't run Fatima, don't leave us, please?"

I blinked a bit confused, "I wouldn't – I mean – I would tell you if I left," the whispered words seemed to put a smile on his face.

"If you chose to leave Fatima, I would come with you," the tops of his ears reddened, I didn't know what to do with his words so I just nodded. Continuing to prepare, when he had his shoes and jacket on, as did I the two of us went downstairs joining the rest of the family.

"Good morning Faith!" Amy chimed, and doing a double take at her, I note that she's wearing my dress – the one I made for her. "Aren't you going to school?" I queried with a smile, eyeing her dress and noting that she was wearing the same warm khaki colored boots, with fur inside like I was wearing. "Uh huh – but today is my birthday even though we had the party on the weekend. So today I gets to dress any way I want for school so I wearing my dress," she spoke choppily twirling around. "And – and mom made cupcakes for the class too," I nodded as Kalenah turned and took a long lingering gaze at Samson.
