I'd been endlessly asking myself why I couldn't I be the one that saved Talia? It would have been perfect really. Samson would have seen another side of me, and also wouldn't have been so invested in Faith. We really were a great pair, but he had been too caught up in his grief to notice my changing feelings. It didn't just happen overnight, I think I was always in love with him, building our relationship and then I woke up, and Samson wasn't just my best friend, but he was the guy that I found so attractive, that made my heart race.
By age fourteen, I was the apple of Samson's eye, he paid no attention to any other girls and even when the family went on vacations, and others would approach him, he'd just walk away as though he didn't hear.
He never blew me off that way. I had Samson's undivided attention. Now, someone had slipped in when I wasn't looking, and I was always looking.
I guess I could be to blame as well because I underestimated her. There was nothing special about the girl, yet Samson had flocked to her ordinarily plain body, face, and voice. There wasn't a single thing that I could find right on her when observing her, and her reactions to everything around her was utterly classless.

Weeks ago, I walked away from Brennan, with a renewed hope, if Samson wouldn't give me time I knew that Brennan would be able to get through to him. I was a part of the family, we all hung out with one another, Samson knew how I treasured the time we all spent together. He wouldn't just write me off when we'd see each other all the time.
Samson hated making things awkward.
I had hoped that Brennan would get through to his brother, but instead somehow, that had only put Devin's relationship in jeopardy. However, I thought that with her current position, the fact that Brennan broke up with her, that Devin would see how I felt being without Samson, but I was wrong.
I watched as the man I loved, left the lunchroom, my body screaming to go after him. But I felt Devin hold onto my arm on the table, pushing her off I gave her a 'what the hell?' look. "Leave him alone Tay," she mumbled, so quiet I knew that it was only meant for me to hear.
"I just don't understand, she has to have him under some spell," I said aloud, and Harleigh laughed. Not the way we were before, though. Taking my words out of context, and even after I've apologized, our relationship was forever changed. We were all still coming together, Brennan and Talia both, but the tension is there as well. Lunch was the one place that Faith hadn't taken over, the one place that I could get minutes alone with Samson, or in the least speak to him directly.
"Yeah... Samson is under the same spell that my Thaddeus is under," her face red, and Thaddeus doesn't disagree.
I sit watching them, trying to put her words together, until, "Are you - you think he loves her?" I asked laughing at the ridiculousness. "Samson can't love her, she's only been here for what? A minute?"
"She isn't even his type... I mean she's wrong from head to toe! He hates girls with curly hair," I should know, I had straightened mine for years. It wasn't until I had straightened it that he paid me any sort of compliment nearly four years ago.
"I mean she looks like a mouse with that hair and those big ears," I said pushing my food around on my tray, I knew Samson better than anyone at this table, he didn't feel that way for Faith. It took him a long time to open up to people, especially when he realized how fake they could be. There was no way that he had just replaced me, in two months.
Yes, she saved Talia, but that didn't make her any more special than the other girls that had tried and failed. My parents also said that if you wanted something you had to work hard to get it, and so with that in mind, determined, I knew that Samson wouldn't be mine without a bit of work.
The first thing I needed to do was figure out who the hell Faith was. Between Devin and I, we had already come up short. Still had lunch, I still when a new idea comes forth. Devin has access to the Headmasters office and all student files...
