A/n: I typed this on my phone so the spacing and autocorrect is weird. Sorry. When I get home I'll try to fix it if there are mistakes. Ha. If. Of course there will be! LOL.

Elder Caelum POV Outtake

We didn't get where we were by striking deals. The others and myself, we were on top because we saw what we wanted, and we took it. Each time.

On top of the parameters checked off from this place, the explosion that mirrored the preferred method of Gabriel Gavino, a shifter had requested a moment with us.

One Nicholas Romas.

Though he called in, he did not exactly request aid, more like a man seeking power – as though he were some kind of threat to our intended plans.

Now, there was nothing that was enough of a threat to stand in our way. Anyone stupid enough to try, deserved the terror we'd inflict down onto them.

"Sir," my secretary called me to attention as the driver led us to various locations in this insulated town. "After searching our records, it seems as though we should have an agent in this town after all," I nod, though I do not spare her a glance.

"She is one from the Junior Agents." Elder Talon's greatest idea yet. Why wait for our loyal followers to be of age? Why not reach out to those younger that show promise? The success we've found? When using the younger - tested and approved - recruits familial bonds have no place or hindrance in their dedications to us.

My aide continues speaking to the side of my face. Not that the scenery in Bend, Oregon was all that enthralling, but my behavior kept her trying to please me. Show me her dedication.

"The young lady in question was previously recruited at age twelve – Taylor Rosario. According to edited notes, at last check in... three weeks ago... it states that she has gotten closer to her chosen mark."

"And this Nicholas Romas, is he aware of the girl mentioned?"

"That is not recorded."

"Does it state why the girl has chosen her specific mark?"

She swallows thickly besides me, and with the slight accelerated heartbeat, an answer is procured before the verbal reply has been given.

"She does not."

"However, it does show that she has proven herself more than once; the last by successfully murdering someone that had been a threat to her secret alias."

"Please have her handler contact her," I say absentmindedly. If the girl were here, then I'd learn what I needed to of this Nicholas character from her.

...

The explosion at the hotel? Not the work of Gabriel Gavino or any of his associates. Disappointing.

The arson at the school? No strings connecting it to Gabriel Gavino either.

Taylor Rosario? Her handler is unable to track her down.

Nicholas Romas and those he "led?" The women and children were taken to the experiment facilities; the men will do well as test subjects to our Rixile serum.

And Nicholas Romas him self? Was overzealous with his trump card. A list of the shifters he tried to negotiate to give up for a more powerful role is being beaten out of him. One broken bone at a time.

Traveling to Bend, Oregon led me no closer to Gavino, but it was not a wasted trip.
