A Love Worth Waiting For- Chapter 2: A Stranger? How About a Friend Instead?
[Edited]
[Caroline Alexa Tan]
What is a friend? Well, a friend is someone who you like to enjoy being with or someone who has the same interest as you. The word friend is also what a boy would say to start love and what a girl would say to end it. Well, that's not exactly my definition of a friend. My definition is, a friend is someone who is always there for you through thick and thin.
There are lots of friends according to the person's interests. Making a friend, means you get hurt. Then you try again and you hurt. But when you feel like giving up. Try again and you will finally hurt no one.

I took my pencil and started scribbling on the paper as a grin crept upon my face. According to my father, for a girl at the age of five, I could draw really well. I heard my mom calling out my name so I put my pencil down and went to the kitchen.
Seeing a glimpse of my mom, my smile turned into a shocked one. On the kitchen counter, was baking powder and flour poured all over it. Even her cheek and messy ponytail is covered with flour. The floor, the walls, even the ceiling as well. Sometimes, I can't even say that nothing is impossible. Cause my mom, she can make it possible. Even the laws of physics.
"Mom? What happened here."
"Well you see, I was- baking." She was rambling for a moment but she finally gave in.
"So, you asked me to come here to help you clean? Okay." I smiled at her and grabbed the broom. She shook her head.
"Heavens no. I called you here to go outside and play. I heard we have a new neighbor and their the same age as you." My mother gushed as she dusted herself off. Placing a tray full of dough inside our oven.
"Honestly, I'm a little worried about you. Children your age is usually seen outside playing or running around not cooped up in their room." She shook her head as she lead me to the other room taking off her apron.
"Mom, you know I'm not like them. I would like to be left alone in my room to draw in peace. Not go back home with mud all over my face and a sweaty shirt." My mother chuckled at my response.
"You know dear, you remind me so much of your father. He adores drawing much like you. Yes, he is a very peculiar man." She untied her hair letting her brown locks fall on her shoulders. Unlike me, who is a blonde like my father.
"Now go out and play. There will be cookies waiting for you on the kitchen counter." I was never a girl to disobey her but I shook my head.
"Tell you what, get the money on top of the desk and go buy me milk for the cookies. I promise I won't bother you throughout the day." I took her offer and grabbed the spare change from our trip to the market the other day and headed my way.
My father isn't with us at the moment. He's back home working with my two other sisters. Mother said that after I finish my middle school here, we can go back home to see my father and sisters, who is out of the country.
I saw a glimpse of the small convenient store as I went in. The doors opening once it felt my presence. I headed in. Looking at the different colored packs of food and drinks stacked neatly on the shelves. I went to the isle on where the different dairy products are. Not looking on where I was going, I fell in the floor. I stood up seeing a boy my age, at least, I assumed it was a boy my age. He had a small hat on top of his head covering his brown hair.
"I'm sorry." I apologized. I offered him a hand as he took it. Dusting himself off. He replied, "No, I'm sorry."
He swept his brown hair off his eyes. Revealing an electric blue color. He gave me a cheeky smile. My eyes traveled to his hands seeing a bright red lollipop.
