Valentine's POV
"Hey, I brought you some food." I heard Zander say from behind me. I turned around and shot him a thankful smile. I grabbed the packet from him and opened it to see pasta and lasagna.
I started eating my food and Zander sat beside me on the sofa. We were at the hospital and I had stayed the night.
"After you eat, I'll take you home so you could rest." I nodded and started putting away the leftovers.
"Thank you so much, Zander," I told him with a smile as I looked at him. He turned around to face me, he cupped my face. "I will always be there for you, no matter what." After saying that he ducked down to press his lips down to mine. I sighed into the kiss, making him smile.
"Hate to interrupt, but Valentine your father's awake." A voice said, I quickly pulled away from Zander and turned around to face whoever spoke. It was Dr. Sprayberry. I nodded and quickly headed out of the room to Dad's room.
As soon as I reached, I took a deep breath and calmed my nerves down. I put on a small smile and entered the room. I saw my dad laying and his eyes darted toward me as soon as I stepped into his vision.
"Hey, dad." I croaked out. I hurriedly walked to him and threw my arms around him. I nuzzled my face into the crook of his neck. I heard him let out a sigh and he tightened his arms around me.
"I was so scared dad." I sobbed. I could hear him mumbling words to comfort me. "I know Val and I'm so sorry. I didn't mean any of these things to happen." He said as he pulled away a little.
He raised my chin slightly so that he could look at me properly and he wiped all my tears away as he pressed a kiss against my forehead. I smiled slightly at the feeling and silently thanked God for keeping him safe.
"Valentine, where's your mom? She's safe right?" He asked me. I could hear his fear under his voice. I knew he was scared. I gave him a weak smile.
"She's in a coma. The doctors are saying that they don't know when she'd wake up." I told him as I looked down, refusing to see his broken, guilty face.
"Oh lord." I heard him say under his breath. He looked at me with hopeless gaze and he looked so broken.
"Dad listen to me none of this is your fault, okay? You did everything you could to keep yourself and mom safe. She'd wake up soon. Don't worry." He nodded. I noticed his eyes fluttering but he quickly shook his head. I knew he was tired.
"Dad, go to sleep, I'll come back later." He nodded and kissed my forehead. I got up and left the room before taking one last glance.
As soon as I was out, I saw Zander sitting on one of the chairs outside the room. He quickly looked up at me when he heard the door close. "Hey is he okay?" He asked. I nodded with a grin.
"He is. He got tired so I told him to rest and we're coming back here later today, for you to meet him." His eyes widened at the last part, but he nodded anyway and let out a deep breath.
"Let's go home. I want to take a shower." Zander smirked at me and raised his eyebrows suggestively. I rolled my eyes at him and shook my head. Boys will be boys.
~~~
"What if he doesn't like me?" Zander asked me as we got inside the elevator. I laughed heartily.
"Zander don't worry. Just be yourself and don't forget good manners. Just remember to keep your bad boy habits at bay." Zander nodded as he took a deep breath and let it out, continuously. The elevator came to an abrupt stop as we reached the fourth floor. We quickly got out and went over to room 405.
