Chapter 20: I Miss You

Valentine's POV

The following week flew by before I could even realise it. In two days I had my birthday. I was excited yet sad. Excited because well I was turning eighteen and sad because my mom wasn't awake. Yep, no signs of improvement.

Life was still going on, though. Zander and I were strong. Dad and him went along pretty well. And as for Amanda and Andrew, they were going strong too.

Dad and I had a fixed time to visit mom everyday. He went after coming from his work and I went around seven o' clock in the evening. Everything looked fine, like everything was back to the way it was except it wasn't.

Zander and Andrew were working out their friendship. After giving both of them long lectures on why they shouldn't let a girl ruin their friendship, they finally started putting in effort.

"Your birthday is in two days! We need to get you the perfect dress!" Amanda said firmly. Shoppings with Amanda were always painful. I was not exaggerating, really. She could go on and on shopping and won't get tired while I could literally feel my bones and muscles crumbling under exhaustion after an hour.

"Why? I have plenty." I said with a groan. Amanda rolled her eyes at my response and clapped her hand while saying,"Chop-Chop! Go get ready!" Amanda pushed me in the bathroom and yanked the door shut. I let out another groan and slightly shook my head.

After getting ready in about twenty minutes, I got out and found Amanda skimming through a billboard magazine. "Zac Efron is so hot. Why can't he be my boyfriend?" She said as she looked up from the magazine and tossed it aside and sighed dreamily. I laughed lightly and said,"You already have Andrew. And his reaction will be hilarious when he gets to know what you said." Amanda snorted at my reply and said,"You won't rat me out. Now, come on, let's go." I nodded and grabbed my purse as we made our way out.

After some time we finally reached the mall and we got out. "Okay. Let's hunt!" Amanda said with a smirk as she pulled me in one of the stores. This will be a long day.

"Okay! That's it! We're done shopping for my birthday. Let's go and have some food." I said with heavy pants. She nodded in agreement and we both walked toward the food court. We had been shopping for about three hours and I was exhausted.

We quickly went over to Starbucks and Amanda ordered our favourite drinks while I quickly found a good spot for us to sit. When Amanda returned, she sat on my opposite side and said,"So, are you planning to do something for Zander?" My eyes widened as I noticed her wiggling eyebrows. I rapidly shook my head and said,"No! And oh my gosh, you really need to stop bringing up my sex life so suddenly."  Amanda chuckled amusedly. Our conversation was cut short when our names were announced - meaning our drinks were ready. Amanda got up and went to get them. I was brought back to reality when I heard my phone beep. I quickly checked it and saw it was a message from Zander.

From Zander: having fun? 😂
To Zander: Shut up. It's painful 😓😪😭
From Zander: Cheer up babe. You'll survive. I snort at his reply and a faint smile played on my lips.
To Zander: thanks for the motivating words.
From Zander: You're welcome 😅

I rolled my eyes and shoved my phone in my purse as Amanda was back. She handed me my drink and I shot her a thankful smile. We both chatted and drank our frapps. As soon as we had finished drinking, we got up, threw the glasses in the trashcan and we both made our way out of the mall to her car.
