a plane in the night
almost a star, but not as bright
swiftly moving out of sight
a repeating, blinking light
against the wind, a whirring fight
a pilot trying with all his might
to get passengers to the place of their delight
the wind blows left, he tries to go right
the people look to their loved ones in fright
saying "I love you"s and holding on tight
until finally, the plane loses flight
