Appointment

Morven comes in to get Ella to take her to the nursery. "Bye bye" Ella says as she waves to Cara.

"Bye sweetie" Cara smiles as she hugs Ella and waves, Raf smiles at Cara.

"So..." Raf smiles.

"I'm off" Cara says as he grabs her handbag and her letter with the information for the scan.

"Cara please" Raf sighs as he goes after her.

She ignores him and goes straight up to maternity for her scan. He sits down next to her, "why don't we go for coffee after?" he suggests.

"Fuck off Raf, haven't you got something better to do?" She asks sharply.

"No actually, this baby is more important than work" Raf says.

"Ha! Could of fooled me earlier" she laughs sarcastically.

"Let me in and don't push me away" he says. She rolls her eyes and edges away a little, "Come on, please!" Raf says.

"Go play with your stethoscope and leave me and my baby alone" she huffs.

"You and your baby?" he says and Cara rolls her eyes.

"Yes my baby Raf" she says.

"Please Cara, let me stay" Raf pleads.

"Cara Martinez please?" Me T calls.

Cara gets up and Raf gets up and takes her hand. "Get off" she says as she pulls her hand free.

"Oh my lord Cara please" he says. Cara rolls her eyes and sighs.

Cara goes to the office and shuts the door on Raf. "For fuck sake" Raf says as he leans his head on the door.

He knocks the door and then walks in. "Please give me a chance" Raf says.

"You had your chance" she huffs.

Raf rolls his eyes and goes over and stands next to her, "let me prove it to you" he smiles as he takes her hand.

She says nothing and rolls her top up for Mr T. "How have you been?" Mr T asks as he gets the ultrasound machine turned on.

"Okay" Cara says.

"She's been stressing a lot, you don't think that would have an impact on the baby and its growth?" Raf asks curious.

"We'll soon see" Mr T says.

Cara smiles a little as he does seem to be interested. "I mean what if the baby isn't growing enough?" Raf asks.

"Don't say things like that" Cara panics.

Mr T takes Cara's blood pressure before the scan, "why are you doing this?" Cara asks.

"Just to check how you are" he says.

Cara nods and looks at Mr T writes something down before starting the scan. "Can we hear baby's heart beat?" she asks as Raf smiles as she has just said 'we'

"Of course just let me measure up the baby" Mr T says as the baby comes onto the screen.

He examines it for a moment, "baby seems fit and healthy" he says.

Cara stops holding her breath and smiles, "can we hear the heart beat now?" She asks.

Mr T nods, "of course" he smiles, He switches the sound on.

Cara smiles happily and looks at Raf. Raf places his hand lightly on her shoulder.

Cara smiles a little and rests her hand on his. "Looks like this little monkey is doing tell, seems to be growing fairly well, all I say is minimise the amount of stress your blood pressure is slightly on the high side" Mr T says.

"Other than that, your fine and doing well" he smiles as he wipes the gel off Cara's stomach and she pulls her top down.

Cara smiles and sits up as Mr T hands her a picture of the scan. They both thank him before heading out.

Cara walks a little ahead of Raf. "Want to go for coffee or something?" he asks.

"I'm fine" Cara says.

"Look I'm sorry, but it's good news baby is doing fine" he smiles. She just nods and walks back to AAU to finish her shift. "Come back to mine or something later?" he asks.

"I have plans" she says.

"Like what?" he asks.

"None of your business" she says.

"Oh okay" he says.

She gets back to the ward and starts to work again.
