Wasn't expecting that

Old flame

"Cara where's the fire?" Raf laughs as she pulls him off the ward. "Who is that?" he asks, "Is... That's...?" Raf says as Cara pulls him along the corridor.

"Cara!" Raf says in a raised tone of voice which makes her jump.

She bites her lip "it's no one" she says.

"You're lying" he says.

"Don't... Please it's no one... Now I'm hungry" Cara says trying to change the subject.

Raf rolls his eyes at her, "now come on!" she says as she tugs his hand.

"Please Raf..." She says as she fights back the tears.

Raf can see the emotion on her face which melts hid heart, "you can talk to me Cara" he says.

He pulls her into a hug and she breaks down "what's he doing here?" She cries.

It finally clicks with Raf who it is as he remembers seeing Jed a few months back, "I don't know...but stay off the case and I'll deal with it" he says as he rubs her back.

"Are you sure?" She whispers as she looks up at him.

Raf nods, "I'll not let anything happen to you" he says reassuringly, She smiles and wipes her tears away.

"Don't cry" he smiles as he hands her a tissue.

"Can we go for something to eat please?" she mutters.

Raf nods and smiles and takes her hand, They head down to the canteen where Cara sits starring at an egg sandwich.

"Eat up then" he says.

She gets it out the packaging and nibbles at it before putting it back, "Not that hungry" she says as she gets £2.30 out of her scrub pocket and gives it to Raf again.

"What's this for?" He says.

"The sandwich you bought me" she says.

"I don't want it, you can pay me back later" he winks.

"No take it" she says.

"Don't want it" he says.

"Please take it" she says.

"No just eat up, you've barely ate anything today" he says. She nibbles at the sand which again and puts it down before both their pagers go off.

They both get up and head for the lift, in which Cara slips the £2.30 into the pocket on Raf's scrub top...but he notices. He holds onto it and quickly slips it back into her pocket again.

"I love you, but your annoying me" she says.

"Thanks" she smiles and kisses his cheek before the lift doors open and they head their seperate ways. Cara smiles as she keeps looking over at Raf who's standing at the nursing station.

Raf looks up at her and gives her a friendly smile althought she doesn't realises Jed is watching the two closely.

Cara goes over to the nursing station "Raf?" She smiles.

"Yes?" he says as he looks up from reading a patients notes.

"Bay two? Miss wood !Can you have a look at her bandages and wound please" Cara says
