CHAPTER 7

All of them left the audi & nandini left saying that she had a class. Manik could see Mukti's mood off & assuming it was bcoz of Nyonika. He took all of them to the canteen & they sat there for about an hour, as Manik kept on trying to cheer Mukti's mood. After that he left from there, saying that he has to go to the office. He started searching for Nandini here & there, but couldn't see her. After about 10 minutes, he saw her outside the Music room with Shahid so he msged her,
"Meet me on the stairs behind the Music wing in 5"..
5 minutes later, Nandini reached there to find him waiting.
Nandini: Hey!!
Manik: Hi.. Come sit!!
Nandini sat beside him on the stairs & then he said,
Manik: Nandini I m sorry that u had to hear all that.... Nyonika has always been-
Nandini: Manik its ohk... U don't need to explain anything or say sorry... I didn't feel bad at all, In fact I was happy that u supported me. I do hv a feeling that u were being rude to her as she is your Mother but thats ur personal matter & Cabir told me that u don't like to talk about it much, so I understand!! And thank u for standing by my side.
Manik simply kept looking at her & smiled,
Manik: U know what ur problem is.... u hv a very pure heart & U think that all hv the same...
Nandini: No Mr. Manik Malhotra if u r forgetting then I m the same nandini, who taught harshad a lesson in front of the entire college.
Manik: Ohh yes, how can I forget the dare devil Nandini...
Both of them laughed out loud at it & just then nandini's phone rang, she saw the caller name & then said,
Nandini: Manik I m sorry but I hv to attend this call, its my manager.....
Manik: Sure, no problem go on!!
Manik excepted her to return back to her formal attitude & talk but Nandini picked up the call & said,
Nandini: Namaste Kapoor Uncle.... How r u?? N how is ur health now??..... Hmn its good but now take care of urself even more & no extra work. In fact I suggest u to take a holiday from work for about a week.... I don't wanna hear anything Mr. Kapoor, I m the boss & its my order. So now u r taking leave & thats final!!.... Vese Uncle anything special, u called at this time.... Good news!! What??..... Really!!.... Thank u Thank u very much uncle..."
Nandini's happiness was clearly visible on her face, she was so excited that she held Manik's hand & entwined her fingers with his. But then she got to know something & her smile faded away & she soon disconnected the call. Manik didn't like her dropped face & thus asked,
Manik: Hey what happened??
Nandini: Nothing, I m going to be awarded for the fastest growing business in the state.
Nandini said in a low voice. As Manik heard this he looked at her & said,
Manik: Wow nandini... This is such a great news then why rn't u happy??
Nandini: Manik, its not that I m not happy... I m very happy but there's a problem..
Manik: And whats that??
Nandini: They have organised a party to falicitate me & introduce me to the top businessmen of the city.
Manik: So thats good na!!
Nandini: No Manik its not good... I don't like these kinds of business get togethers. I m running this company just bcoz it's my appa's & thats it... I never feel comfortable in such get togethers. People at such party say something else & feel something else, I don't like that. Till now I never attended one as earlier i was too small & then I wasn't in India...U only tell me I m just 21, what will I do there between those highly successful ppl.
Manik: Nandini relax... Don't forget the fact that even after being just 21, ur company is at that position just bcoz of u & ur brilliant business sense.
Nandini: But Manik what will I do there?? I'll fell so alone!!
Manik: Ohk if thats the problem then don't worry coz u r gonna have an awesome company there.
Nandini looked at him with a confused look to which he replied,
Manik: Arey Manik Malhotra se achi company mil sakti h kya??
Nandini: Really Manik, u r also coming??
Manik: Till now I wasn't as I never like such boring parties & Nyonika goes from our company but now i m coming....
Nandini: Ohh God, Manik thank u so much!!
Nandini jumped in joy & hugged his arm tightly. Manik smiled at it & then thought to himself,
Manik's pov:
"Now its time to give a mind blowing shock to Nyonika... Today's party is really gonna be exciting..... I just can't wait to see the look on her face knowing who nandini is... She will hv to apologise to Nandini for what she did!!!"
Soon both of them left for home & decided to meet directly at the party. Manik went to office & straightly went to Nyonika's cabin. He entered the cabin directly & said,
Manik: Nyonika!!
Nyonika: Manik... U!! And that too in my cabin???
Manik: Why??? I also work in the same office, can't I come in ur cabin!!
Nyonika: Yes thats right... But its just that u havn't done that ever before!!
Manik: Cut the crap!! I don't hv time for ur rubbish.... I just came to tell u that I'll come & pick u up by 8 sharp... So be ready!!
Nyonika: What??
Manik: Nyonika... We represent the same company so it won't look good na if we reach separately in the party...
Nyonika: Party?? U mean u r coming at the party!!
Manik: Yes.. I m!!
Nyonika: But u never attend-
Manik: Nyonika.... People do change!! I m coming & thats it..... Now be ready on time...
Saying so Manik left the cabin, leaving Nyonika confused. Nyonika kept on looking at the door & then returned back to her work after a few moments. Later that evening both of them reached the party & as expected all the business men & women were present along with their families. The girls were busy drooling over Manik, who was just waiting for one person. A few minutes later, the host came up on the stage & said,
" Hello ladies & gentlemen, can I plz request u to hv ur seats".
With this all the people moved to the different tables which were already assigned to them & Manik had to sit with Nyonika.
"So I welcome u all Business Tycoons to this party, & thank u all very much for coming here taking out time from your busy schedules... But as u all know this party is in the honour of that person whose company has reached to a gr8 height & that too in a very small time span. We all know that Kamal Industries, that was earlier known as the Moorthy Ind. was shut after the unfortunate death of its owner Mr. Kamal Moorthy & his wife. But then after 4 yrs of time lag, his daughter again started the company on his name. And with her hard work, dedication & off course an amazing business sense today this company is one amongst the top 30 Industries of the country. And here we r together to award such a brilliant business lady.... So people welcome the reason for today's party, Miss Moorthy...."
With this all the faces turned towards a side, to see a beautiful young girl walking in the hall followed by two of her managers. She smiled for the press a bit & then made her way towards the stage. And as she steped up on the stage, the crowd got a proper veiw of her. She was wearing a white off shoulder Scaasi evening gown that accanted a slender, seductive figure. Around her throat was a diamond & ruby necklace & her hair curled up towards the end. As Manik saw her, she kept on making him stare at her. All the people present were admiring her beauty, but most were shocked to see her as she was very young. Manik smiled at those looks on people's faces & then turned towards Nyonika, who was stunned to see Nandini there. Manik slowly moved closer to her & whispered,
Manik: Thats why its said, never to be rude with ppl.... U never know who comes in ur way latr...
Nyonika turned towards him & gave him an angry glare as Manik kept on njoying it & smiling broadly.
Manik: Now I think for all u did... I hope she is good enough for letting us with the contract still.
Nyonika gave him a bad look & then turned back again towards the stage. Nandini was given the award & then she came up to the mike,
Nandini: Thank u, thank u very much for this... But this award is not just for me, its more for my employees rather than me... they r those who hv helped me, made the company reached where it is today!
Just then a reporter asked, "Ms. Moorthy u r so young.... How r u managing it from all these years??"
Nandini: I really don't know how.... What I knw is that its all bcoz my manager took the pain to train a 11 year old girl for business. He taught me like a father & he is the reason for what this company is today!! Thank u uncle... Thank u very much
Manik kept on admiring her, he didn't know why but his eyes were full of proud to see her there. Soon Nandini got down the stage & all the people again got up & got involed in their chats & food. Nandini was standing on a side with a sweet smile on her face & thanking all the people who went to congratulate her. Manik looked at her & thought to himself, "How can she look so damn calm with those idiots bluffing around her". He saw those people move away from her & walked closer & tapped on her shoulder from the back. Nandini turned around & the moment she saw him, she immediately hugged him tight.
Nandini: Manik where were u?? I almost thought that u ditched me today....
Manik broke the hug & then said,
Manik: How can I ditch such a beautiful lady.... Ohh God, Nandini u look really awesome!!
Nandini blushed at it a little & then said,  
Nandini: Thank u...
Manik smiled at her & then noticed Nyonika staring at both of them. Just then her Manager came closer with some other ppl & said, "Ma'am, meet Mr, Desai, he is-" Nandini greeted the whatever guy & then he went away & Nandini said to her Manager & manik,
Nandini: Such a jerk he was!! How the hell do people get to tolerate that crap... I just gotta get out of here, Uncle how much more time do i hv to stay??
Mr. Kapoor: Nandini.... Beta the party has just started & its just for u... So u cant go so soon!! Just enjoy the party... Do u need something??
Nandini: Not really?? Well at least I hv a nice company!!
He smiled at her & soon walked away. Manik admired the way she managed her personal & professional relations. Both of them walked to a side & enjoyed the party in their own way. For then it was as if only the two of them present & no one else around. Manik would time to time whisper a few praises in her ears to which she would just blush or smile slightly. All were busy on their own but there was one pair of eyes that couldn't just go off them. Well, that was no one else but Nyonika. Nyonika could not just take her eyes off them. After about an hour she walked towards them with Mr. Smith, her manager. Nyonika expected a sharp expression on Nandini's face due to their previous conversation but surprisingly Nandini still had a sweet smile on her face.
Mr. Smith: Ms. Moorthy, meet Mrs. Malhotra!!!
Nandini took her hand forward to shake hands with her & said,
Nandini: Hello Mrs. Malhotra.... I think this is our first proper meeting.
Nyonika: Right... Miss Moorthy!
Nandini: Ohh plz call me Nandini
Nyonika: Sure. By the way congrats nandini, its big day for u!!
Nandini: Thank u very much!!
Manik smiled at it & signalled Mr. Sinha to leave. As he left Nyonika said,
Nyonika: U really hv done great in such a small age...
Nandini was about to say something when manik interupted,
Manik: Nyonika... Stop pretending so much yr... Don't worry nandini won't take away the contract from us for ur morning's mistake... Coz she also knows that I run the Malhotra Ind. not u!! Right nandini...
Nyonika looked at him angrily & Nandini held his hand & whispered in his ears,
Nandini: Manik plz she is ur mom, u shouldn't insult her like this.. Not atleast in front of me.
Manik(loudly): But Nandini-
Nandini(again whispered): No buts, or else I m not talking to u...
Manik gave her a 'UNBELEIVABLE LOOK' & then nodded.
Nandini: Sry for his words Nyonika  ma'am..
Nyonika: Its totally f9 nandini... I think by now u know how my son is, so i m quite used to it.... But its really strange to see Manik malhotra agreeing to someone's words so fast!!
Manik was suddenly agitated by her words & so was nandini, Manik was about to say something, when Nandini held Manik's hand & said sternly to Nyonika,
Nandini: I think now we should get going... If u'll plz excuse us!!
And with this nandini moved away from there along with Manik.
Nyonika: I need to know whats happening between the two of them, before its too late...
Nandini: Manik, lets go out... I m hating it here....
Manik: As u wish... After all its ur day...
Nandini smiled at it & both of them left the hall, they moved to the garden outside & walked there holding hands.
Nandini's pov:
" Thank u Manik... U don't know it but just by being here you hv just made this day the most memorable day of my life.... Walking here with u is such an awesome experience that i can't even explain it."
Manik's pov:
" How can just a simple walk like this feel so amazing... What is so special about u that u make every moment so magical!! This is like the most beatiful time for me.."
They walked for sometime & then Manik said,
Manik: Come today I'll take u to my favorite place.
Nandini: Where??
Manik: Do u trust me??
Nandini: Yes.. I do!!
Manik: So come... Lets go!!
They started walking towards the parking. Just then Nandini stopped, "Manik one minute".
Manik: What happened??
Nandini: Before we go i need to get rid of something.
Manik: What??
Nandini left his hand & asked him to wait, then turned around & called out a little louder, "GAURDS!!!"
And much to Manik's surprise two men dressed in black suits with guns in their hands came running from no where. They came in front of Nandini & kept their heads low.
Nandini: Ask the driver not to wait for me, I'll reach home on my own & NO ONE should follow me from here..
Guard 1: But Madam, ur safety-
Nandini: Don't worry, I m safe as long as he's with me (refering to Manik) Now u may leave....
As manik heard nandini's words, he got a smile on his face, it told him how much she trusted him & it mean a lot for him. The guards left from there & soon they got into Manik's car. After a few minutes Manik asked,
Manik: nandini, can i ask something??
Nandini: What happened Manik??
Manik: What was all that safety for?? I mean those guards...
Nandini: Frankly, I myself don't know... From the day I hv come to Mumbai they r with me everytime. In college, in office, or wherever I go... Like Cabir's place, or even urs... Kapoor Uncle has appointed them & he doesn't feel that I should know the reason... And I trust him!!
Manik: Then why did u send them away??
Nandini: Bcoz I didn't want anyone else seeing ur secret place & I know I m safe as long as u r around me...
Soon both of them reached a hill top, Manik got down the car & opened the door for Nandini. She got down & the view of the city in front of her was awesome.
Nandini: Wow Manik, its so beautiful...
Manik: Look up in the sky Nandini.
Nandini looked up & the stars were twinkling so bright that a sweet smile came upon her face. That was the first time that Manik was there & he was looking at some thing other than the stars. Just then Manik picked her up by her waist & made her sit on the top of the car. Nandini looked at him shocked but then saw him come up too. And soon both of them were lying together on the roof of the car. Nandini turned to look at Manik after a few minutes & saw him looking at the stars, so she asked,
Nandini: Manik, why do u like the stars.
Manik: How do u know that I like them??
Nandini: By the way u r looking at them...
Manik: U r right, I like stars a lot, for the way they keep on shining brightly even in the dark.... Always!!
Nandini: Manik u na forget these stars....
Saying this she moved closer & resting her head on his hand she continued,
Nandini: They r there only in the night that too not always.... U na be with me, Hamesha.... and i'll shine for u... Always!!
As nandini said this Manik turned to look at her face. She was still looking up, he knew she said that casually, being in her all time bubbly mood, but for him those words really meant a lot. Both of them kept on sitting there for hours. It was around 1:30 am & none of the two was tired or sleepy, they didn't wish to return back from there. But then manik said,
Manik: Nandini, its 1:30 lets go.... I'll drop u!!
Nandini: Manik, lets stay for a few more minutes... Its so peaceful out here, I love it here....
A few minutes later nandini slowly asked,
Nandini: Manik is it true that ppl become stars after they die?
Manik: I don't know but yes many ppl do believe so!!
Nandini: So does that mean that Appa & Amma too r up there amongst one of these & r looking at me??
Manik turned to look at her & saw tears flowing down her eyes,
Manik: Hey nandini, why r u crying??
He removed her tears & she said like a child,
Nandini: Manik Am i so bad, that God took them away from me so early leaving me alone..
Manik: Hey, u r the sweetest person I hv ever known... And who said u r alone see I'm here right by ur side...
Nandini looked at him with her eyes glittering in tears. Manik slowly moved closer & kissed her forehead.
Manik: Should we go now??
Nandini simply nodded after which manik made her get down & soo they moved towards her place. All the way back neither of them said even a word. As they reached & got down, nandini said,
Nandini: Thank u Manik, I really enjoyed a lot today!! U made this day even more special for me!
Manik: Good night Nandini!!
Nandini: Good night... See u..
Manik: Yeah..
Nandini turned & got inside the mansion, while manik too left. The next day, Nandini reached the college & straightly went to the canteen where Fab5 were waiting for her. Cabir had come to wish Nandini & Manik just stayed as he wanted to meet her, & as cabir was there, it didn't seem odd as well. As she entered Cabir got up & hugged her tight,
Cabir: Cangratulations nandu!!
Soon the rest three also wished her & then she said,
Nandini: But how do u all know... I wanted to tell u myself!!
She said like a small child, whose plan had got spoiled. Just then she saw Manik smiling looking at her,
Nandini: Haw manik, U told them???
She said faking anger to which Manik smiled broadly & said,
Manik: Hello miss popular, Don't u see the newspaper early morning... I didn't tell anyone, the newspaper has announced it in the entire city.
Saying so he passed the paper to her, nandini saw her photograph with the award on the front page & said,
Nandini: Thats why I hate there press ppl.
All the others laughed at it. Soon Manik & Cabir left. After that Nandini said that she was going to fill the form for Musicana... As she said this she saw Mukti's already dropped face even more sad. They all got up to leave & Nandini said to Mukti,
Nandini: Mukti, can we plz have a little talk!!
Mukti: Ohh sure!! (To aliya & Dhruv) Guys u carry on, I'll see u in the Music room!!
Aliya: Cool!!
With this Nandini & mukti moved to an empty classroom to talk.
Precap: Mukti wants Fab5 to participate in MUSICANA together!! Nandini promises to help her by making Manik agree....
