You'd been feeling neglected, recently. Completely, and utterly neglected. Which, in all honesty, isn't hard to achieve when your lover is Donquixote Doflamingo. He was a very brutish, and emotionally withdrawn kind of man. He didn't express love through those magic three words, and his physical contact stooped to nothing more than sex, and possessive closeness when you were in public.
However, it's not like you entered this relationship without the knowledge he wouldn't be the most emotionally catering partner. In fact, it was almost what drew you to him. You weren't one for all that emotional stuff either, however, being reminded you were cherished now and then didn't hurt.
You looked down at the small string-like bracelet on your wrist, you'd had it since you were a child. The science behind it was unknown; the only thing you were certain of, was it glowed a deep crimson red the (physically) closer you were to your true love. And Doffy definitely took enormous pride in seeing the way yours lit up like a firework whenever you were near him.
However, and much to your distaste, he'd never shown you his before. He never wore it, and he kept it locked away in a location of which you didn't know. A location of which you wanted to know. For no other reason than emotional stability. You didn't know why Doffy hid the bracelet. Was he ashamed? Did he not like it? Or, the most horrifying thought in your mind, did he not love you like you loved him? Did the bracelet not glow in your presence?
You had to know.
And so, with a heavy heart, and a million unanswered questions, you left for his study. He was in a meeting with all the other executives today, and shouldn't be back for another good couple of hours. Giving you the perfect opportunity to snoop on him.
When you arrived, you entered the room quietly, shutting the door so delicately, one might think you were attempting not to rouse a giant from its slumber.
You paused briefly.
Was this a good idea? If Doffy noticed something was amiss when he returned, he'd lose his shit, that's for sure. You shook your head. You couldn't continue on in this relationship not knowing how your partner felt.
And so, you set about, stealthily and swiftly, wracking through numerous drawers, cupboards, and cabinets. None revealed the small piece of wrist-wear, and you were growing worried. Maybe he hadn't hid it, as he let on? Maybe he'd thrown it away? You frowned at the thought.
Until, suddenly, and far too conveniently, a small key revealed itself at the back of the glass cabinet you were checking. Blinking owlishly, you took the key, and examined it. It was brass, and of quite an antique design. The only problem was, you didn't know what the hell it opened.
Looking around, for any kind of sign as to what the key might open, you sighed. You made your way to Doffy's desk, hopped onto it, and sat down. You were growing impatient now, and so close to giving up. Looking down at where the fingers on the hand not holding the key drummed against the table, you hummed,
"He's had this desk a while," you mused to yourself, not really thinking anything of it, opting to ensue mindless chit-chat with yourself. You then looked at the key, humming,
"It looks almost as old as this..."
You murmured, before gasping at your revelation. Quickly scrambling off the desk, you made your way around to the back of it, quickly finding a small drawer at the left side. Stooping, with shaking hands, you quickly shoved the key into the lock, and twisted.
The drawer opened.
Your heart began to pound as you slowly pulled the drawer open, and, right there, in plain sight, was his bracelet. You stared for a while, before slowly reaching out for it, and you almost wanted to cry in relief.
The string-like piece of jewellery burned a fiery red the closer your hand got, signifying you were, in fact, Doflamingo's true love. You caressed it briefly with your fingers, before shaking your head. You needed to fix the mess you'd made searching in the room before Doffy came back. And so, with a happy heart, and a bright smile, you shut and locked the drawer, before making a task of fixing the room.

Later that night, while you were tucked away in bed, eyes slowly sliding shut, ready to resign to peaceful slumber, you heard your bedroom door open. You cast your tired eyes to your lover, and he chuckled at you,
"Still awake?"
He removed his large, over-sized feather coat, and kicked off his shoes, before moving to the bedside, and laying down, releasing a low groan of relaxation. You smiled, and rolled to his side, curling into his larger form like a kitten. He smirked, amused, and wrapped one arm around you.
It had been the most affection he'd shown in a long while, and that, coupled with the knowledge he really did love you, was enough to have you voicing your own affections to him, before falling asleep at his side.
He watched you quietly, lips set into a straight line. However, they quirked up a little as he thought of what you'd just said, and closed his eyes, removing his bizzare shades from his face, and setting them aside. No, he'd never display the weakness that came with saying it back, but...
He loved you, too.
