Sabo x Depressed! Reader.

Ok, I know my Sabo fan fics are quite soppy and sweet. But, it's because I see Sabo as a caring and gentle guy, so the atmosphere just seems right. ;). Oh btw, I don't own these pictures!...wish I did, but oh well.

So close. She was so close to giving in, and snapping like a twig. She knew he wasn't dead, and that seemed to be enough to convince her to look for him...But as 2 years crawled on, the task became more unlikely as she grew wiser.

As her brain became more accustomed to the ways of the sea, it also began to realise that not only could the man be ANYWHERE in the world. But also, as she searched more and more islands, the remaining ones he could be on were wearing thin.

There was also the depressive, nagging thoughts at the back of her mind. 'What if you missed him on a previous island?' And, 'What if he's actually dead?' These voices became louder the longer she searched. And now...

She couldn't take it any longer.

The young girl bawled into her hands as she sat on a bench in a desolate park on Dressrosa. Her tears soaked through the divisions in her fingers as she wept harder. Thoughts of all the people she lost spinning around her mind.

She never saw Luffy anymore.

Garp was a marine, so she couldn't exactly see him.

Ace has been dead for two years.

And Sabo has been dead for 12.

So many people she let slip through her fingers. And now.... She just wanted to let go. She couldn't do this much longer, travel the seas alone. And at least if she let go... She could see Ace again... And maybe even Sabo.

"I just want to die..." She whispered to herself.

"Now, now." She heard a voice beside her speak, going by the deep, smoothness of it, it was a man. Too embarrassed to look at the person, she sniffed and faced the other way. "What do you want? Go away."She hissed half-heartedly.

"Please excuse me, but I couldn't help but notice a woman crying, alone. So I came to see if I could cheer you up." He stated, and she could hear the smile in his voice.

Keeping her eyes averted, she looked down. "Please, I just want to be alone." The girl pleaded. "I'm afraid I can't allow that, after all, I did just hear you say you wanted to die."

"It makes no difference to you!" She snapped, whipping her head around to see the annoyingly,persistent man.

And just like that, her whole world collapsed on top of her.

Her breath caught in her throat. Her eyes widened. Her body froze.

A churning sensation span in her stomach as she laid notice to the blond hair, clothing style, led pipe, and top hat.

"S....Sabo?"

She whispered under her breath. The familiar man simply gave her a confused stare. Head tilting curiously to the right a bit.

"Sabotage...it's me..."

Sabo felt his eyes widen at the familiar nickname. Only one person in the world called him that. A girl he had thought of none stop, for 12 years.

They simply stared at one another with bated breath, neither not really sure how to react.

"______-" He began, but was cut off.

"12 years..." She sniffled. "12 years I thought you were dead... I tried not to believe it....but..." Immediately, Sabo lunged forward and pulled her into a tight embrace. And instantly, she reciprocated.

"I'm sorry," he whispered into her hair. "I'm so sorry,_____"

"I was gonna... I was gonna kill myself..." She sobbed into his chest, both hands clutching at his coat.

He had no idea how this girl had put up with these past 12 years.

And now he realised she had been in agony... All he wanted to do was shower her in love and wash the pain away. But could he do that? She would still have the memory of that day... She would still remember Ace's death...

Was him being alive...enough?

When Sabo felt the girl pull back, his heart sank. Was she mad? He stared into her watery, (e/c) eyes as she stared back into his.

"Please."

A single word, and he knew exactly what it meant. He had learned long ago. She uttered that one word as a child when she was afraid, alone, and overwhelmed, but had too much pride to admit it. That single word had another meaning.
