Motm 1st- Ryan Kent 2nd- Connor Randall
1st I can't say I knew who he was before I saw his name but he made sure we knew him by the end of the half.
2nd Always was alright with seeing him last season, did really good this game, great start.
For some bizzare reason I was surprised Karius in goal even though there is only Bogdan available atm. Now I've seen him between our goalposts, yeah he's rather good looking, can't wait to see him do some actual goalkeeping.
Firmino, Moreno, top knot style hair? really? Not impressed and Firmino what's he spent the summer doing, eating?
I dunno what to say about the first half other than 1st halfers need to work on their finish but tbf it is match 1 of preseason, a very new team and everything. Lucas was captain and nearly scored a header!
The usual love for Flano but there wasn't really anything for him to do Lovren did a tackle that I was convinced was Flano at first.
Spent too long like OMG look what he done to Ings' eye/ cheek.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (he was born 4 and half years after me, I feel old) he did so well, he always had a ton of space and just ran out of nowhere to get that ball to Ings.
Ings scored! Unfortunately not the one from the photo, that woulda been a really cool goal, cheering was really weird I was like yeah! really quiet and half-arsed just cos it was nice but it's a friendly so everything's chilled. 100% winning record from Danny Ings as captain, nice one :)
Bogdan handled the smoke bomb canister really well which I didn't even see cos it was all action at the other end which is what you want with him in goal.
I was really disappointed by Markovic, could say the same of Firmino but not as much cos I know this is just out of touch Firmino.
Cant decide which half I liked better, 1st had more shots (I think) but more wild while 2nd had the goal and the two teams felt a little bit more equal but I still spent most of the time feeling sorry for Tranmere cos they just had to chase after us most of the time.
It was more exciting than I'd expected/ been lead to believe bu not too much so that was nice, finally seeing Reds not random Euros teams that all lose when I support them (even Germany ffs) so finally a win!
"Liverpool Football Club welcomes today's decision from UEFA to dismiss the case against Mamadou Sakho, confirming that he did not commit any doping violation." I'm so annoyed I don't wanna talk about it, it changed everything we did/ could do from the time he was suspended but yay it's finally all over, he's innocent and we can all move on.
Genuinely not sure what Klopp was saying post match but he seemed very excited- how can he not be today? He's here to stay until 2022 which I'm still convinced is a lifetime away, some futuristic space time, there's films set in the distant future that's that year, I'm sure but I'm so, so happy with that.
He did say this though- I know nothing about Fleetwood at this moment, I thought they were a rock band!
Tbf I only know them from the bloke who announces football results in complete monotone.
So on to Fleetwood Town (not Mac) Wednesday July 13, kick-off 7pm.
