The funeral is in a few hours and the day is already starting off bad. I mean it is a sad day but Que just can't get right. I understand why but this is a whole different side of him. He couldn't tie his tie right, barely lace his shoes right. I feel so bad for him and the only thing a can do for him is to be here.
My mom said he could come stay with us until he finished high school. But he doesn't know what he wants to do. He loves it out in Florida but doesn't want to leave his HOME. Atlanta is all he knows. It was like that for Alex and I.
"Dria, I need help!" Que yelled from his room.
I got up and walked into his room. "With what?"
"My tie. Can you tie it for me?" He asked with pleading eyes.
I smiled and fixed his tie.
He was wearing black slacks with a white button down shirt rolled up to his elbows. Then he put on his black vest with his purple tie. Momma Jacki's favorite color was purple.
I had on a all black, not too tight, dress. It had lace short sleeves and showed a little cleavage. I also had on some purple heels. My hair was up in a neat bun.
Once we were done getting ready, we went to the church. My mom and Alex said they would meet us there. Their flight arrived late last night.
Pulling up to the church we noticed there are a lot of people here. We parked and got out. Once we got into the church, Que squeezed my hand really tight. His mother's closed casket was sitting right at the front of the church.
We sat down in our seats and then Alex and my mom came in. They sat next to us.
"Dria, have you talked to Trey lately?" Alex whispered to me.
Omg! How could I forget about him. I've been so tie up here that I haven't even texted him.
"I totally forgot." I told him frustrated with myself.
"You might wanna call him. He's going crazy."
I told Que I'll be right back then walked out side. I took my phone out and called Trey. He picked up on the third ring.
"Girl don't you know I haven't heard from you since" there was a pause. "Since Monday? And it's Saturday!" He yelled.
I feel terrible!. "I'm so sorry babe. There was an emergency and I had to leave town."
"Do you mind telling me why?" His voice sounded a little calmer.
I sighed. "Que needed my help."
"So let me get this straight. You left town to be with Que? And you couldn't call or even text me back?" He got angry all over again.
"It's not even like that babe, just let me explain."
I heard someone call his name in the background.
"Naw bruh, look I'll talk to you later. I gotta go."
"But can I ex-"
He hung up on me. I mean I know I didn't call but he didn't even let me explain. I trying to hide my anger so I can get through this funeral, but it's hard. I put my phone back in my pocket ( yes my dress has pockets) and went back in to the church.
"Is everything okay?" Alex asked as I sat down.
"Yea."
The service started and everyone started crying hearing about momma Jacki. Que even sang a song, and the whole place was moved. He started crying so Issa and Justin had to help him out. After Que finished, they took him to the back outside the sanctuary.
Alex put his arm around me and pulled me into him. I covered my face as tears started falling faster. I still can't believe she's gone.
All the times she would make me cookies whenever I came over. She knew that was my favorite. All the times she came over to spend time with my mom then ended up fighting Alex, that was the funniest thing. All the times she would let me come over and didn't care about me and Que always being around each other. We never did anything other than brotherly sisterly stuff and she knew that. She had faith in us and I really appropriate her for that.
"You might want to go check on Que. He needs you." Alex whispered in my ear.
I looked at him and gave him a small smile. He smiled back and I got up and walked to the lobby. I looked around and didn't see Que. I then walked to the back and there he was listening to whatever Issa was saying. Justin noticed me and gave me a small smile. He then walked over to me.
"He's taking it hard. Do you think you can talk to him?" he asked.
"Maybe." I answered.
We walked over to them and Issa looked at me. "Hey D."
I smiled. Que looked up at me then back down at the floor.
"Okay guys, I got it." I told Justin and Issa. They smiled then walked out.
"Que?" I wrapped my arms around him.
He didn't say anything.
"It's going to be okay, I promise." I told him as I hugged him tighter.
We finally got up and walked back into the service.
After it was done, we went to go eat. There was a silent atmosphere and it made things feel lonely. It's like no one was themself. It's so dead in here without momma Jacki. She was always the life of the party. That's where Que get's from.
