CHAPTER 10
George's POV:I was headed back into the hall to ask Kat if the trip was going to be a date but I heard Scar talking to her. I stayed behind the door and tried to hear what they were saying. I was actually able to catch every word, thank Godric they're weren't too many people in the hall studying today. I heard her say she wanted it to be a date, whew that's a big relief that is. But she doesn't think we would work out because of what she is. She must be a werewolf if she keeps thinking that. There's no other explanation.
Well I don't care, I still want to give us a try. I'll make her see that we could work. I freeze as they walk by me and out the front doors. Kat doesn't seem to notice me but Scar winks at me as she walks by and I realize that she knows I've heard every word. She quickly puts her finger to her lips in a 'be quiet' sort of way as they walk out. Bloody hell that was close. I walk back up to the Gryffindor common room to get Lee and Fred to help me turn this trip into a proper date.
********************************
I was walking back into the common room after finishing the rest of the details for Hogsmeade with Fred and Lee when I saw Kat reading in an armchair next to Scar. She looks paler than she did earlier today and even more tired. I hope she isn't getting sick, I don't remember Lupin looking like that before moons. Though come to think of it he did miss a lot of class during and after.
I see Scar ask her something after pointing to the clock on the wall and Kat nods slowly as they both stand up. I watch as Kat starts to sway and almost falls over but Scar catches her. I've never seen her trip or fall or anything since she got here. She's always been so graceful, even stiff at times, but not tonight it seems. I rush over to them as Kat steadies herself on the back of the chair.
"Kat, are you ok?"
"I'm fine George. Scarlet and I are just going to go for a short walk and chat. You know girl talk. We'll be back in a little while."
"Are you sure you're up to that right now? You look like bed would be a better plan."
"I'm sure, I swear. Thanks for caring Georgie."
Before I can move away she reaches a hand up to my face and kisses me gently on the opposite cheek and leaves with Scar out the portrait frame. I know the kiss should have made me ecstatic, on the cheek or not, but it only made me worry more. Her hands were cold as ice and her eyes were a dull dark blue, not the usual bright blue I've grown accustomed to. Fred and I sit on the sofa just as Hermione and Ginny joins us.
"I have an idea as to why she looks the way she does right now."
"I would guess something to do with the lunar calendar then Hermione." (F)
"Yes, the full moon is next Saturday." (Hermione)
"Halloween?!?" (G)
"Yeah why?" (Ginny)
"Cause he asked her to Hogsmeade and she said yes." (F)
"She can still go as long as she's where she needs to be when the moon comes up." (Hermione)
"Yeah, I suppose. I just don't want her to feel like dung all day when I'm trying to give her a goodtime."
"It'll be alright George, trust me. A girl will always have a good time with a guy she likes and she definitely likes you." (Ginny)
"How do you know that?" (F&G)
"She talks in her sleep sometimes. Your name comes up a lot." (Hermione)
I feel my ears turn red some as Fred laughs and tells them that I've been saying her name a lot as well. They all have a laugh at me expense until Hermione and Ginny stand up to leave. Fred and I hang out in the common room a little while longer and discuss some more joke ideas, including fainting candy, and maybe some instant darkness powder for pranksters that need to escape. We also debate what to do if Bagman doesn't answer our letter in the next few days. He still owes us for that bet mind.
