CHAPTER 39
K POV:

The fear that I had a few minutes ago has been fully replaced by raw, unhindered anger toward Fudge. That idiot will get everyone killed before this is all over. Not only did he deny that Voldemort had come back, he implied that Harry wasn't in his exact right mind and was dangerous, and the worst insult that Dumbledore was losing it as well. He still didn't change his mind when Snape showed his own dark mark, which means I was right about him having secrets of his own but I digress at the moment. I was still fuming even when he walked out the door. Dumbledore however, remained fairly calm which I was surprised about, as he turned to the rest of us having watched the argument.

With the calmness and clarity of anyone I'd ever seen Dumbledore soon sent Bill to the Ministry to ask Mr. Weasley to tell others in the ministry that Voldemort was back. While McGonagall was sent to fetch Hagrid and Madame Maxine to his office, Sirius was revealed to everyone and I realized that Snape has the unique ability to show even more hatred on his face. They really don't like each other I suppose. Though Mrs. Weasley was a bit shocked at that reveal as well.

Sirius was sent to alert old friends or allies I suppose, while Severus was sent off somewhere as well. I watched him pale a bit before he stormed out of the hospital wing, and I realized that he was most likely going to the graveyard. I felt myself turn slightly pale at the thought. Dumbledore ordered Harry to finish his potion before he too turned and started to leave. He was at the door when he turned back facing us.

"Ah, one more thing. Katherine?"

"Yes sir?"

"I was hoping to have a word with you upstairs as well. Alone this time I'm afraid."

"Yes sir."

I watched him walk out and felt George by my side again as I turned back around to face Harry. Poor Harry, the guilt is in his voice, his scent, and on his face about what happened to Cedric. It wasn't fair to either of them. This shouldn't have happened. Cedric was only a few months older than me and the Twins. And Harry, he isn't even 15 yet and already he has this weighing on him. It isn't right. I do know one thing though, as unsafe as it may get here I will not leave now. I will not leave my friends or George to deal with this on their own.

I watch as Harry finishes his Sleeping Potion and is out like a light within a few seconds, with his face finally relaxing. I feel George wrap his arms around me and I lean into him and feel myself relax as his scent surrounds me. I see his mum smile at us at us a bit and I'm honestly kind of surprised that she's so ok with us right now. I smile back before turning to face George.

"I need to go to Dumbledore's office now Georgie."

"Are you sure you're alright to go now Kitty?"

"I'm fine now Georgie."

"Ok love, but hurry back. I'll wait up for you in the common room."

I started to argue with that but I know that I would lose if I did so I just nod. I give him a quick kiss before leaving his arms and walking out of the hospital room. I find myself in front of Dumbledore's office before I even realize it. I walk up and Hagrid and Madame Maxine are already there. I smile at them both and they manage a nod to me, before going back to silence. I know that they believe Harry's story without even asking. If they didn't they wouldn't be so nervous and quiet right now.

I sit down on one of the small chairs just as Dumbledore walks into the office with a grim look on his face. His eyes twinkle some as he nods to both Maxine and Hagrid and then me. He walks over and sits at his desk, just as everyone else sits down across from him.

"You all know of course the events of tonight and that Lord Voldemort has returned."

Hagrid gives a little noise, almost like a small whimper, while we all nod our heads. I know my face has paled again just thinking about what happened in the graveyard tonight. Dumbledore nods his head with us before speaking again.

"I expect that Voldemort will soon start seeking out allies. I hope to beat him to it, with your help if you three are willing. Hagrid and Madam Maxine, I am hoping that you would be willing to travel together this summer and seek an alliance with the giants."

"C-course I would Professor."

Maxine doesn't say anything she just nods her head a bit slower this time as she looks at Dumbledore and then Hagrid. They both look at me a bit and I wonder what Dumbledore has me doing here then.

"Thank you. I will give you more information in private later. Now Katherine dear, what I'm about to ask you to do is put yourself in grave danger for the safety of your friends. I am in fact asking you to put yourself in the of the beginning of war. If you refuse, then I will not hold it against in any way. The only reason I feel that I can ask you is that you are of age now, so it really is your choice."

"Professor, I-I want to help. I want to protect my friends in any way that I can."

"Very well my dear. I am asking that you seek out the vampires this summer and see if they would be willing allies for us."

"How...how many?"

"There are two clans I wish you to visit. One in Bulgaria and one in Transylvania."

"Alright."

"Thank you dear. You are doing what you do not have to do, and what many others would refuse to do. I will give you more instructions later. I think that tonight everyone should go to bed and rest while we can."

I nod as we all stand up and I'm the first one out the door and walking slowly back to the common room. I know that my face paled again at the idea of having to visit vampire clans this summer. Vampires are either accepting of my kind on the understanding that we aren't accepted by most of the magical community as a whole, or we are....killed. I can only hope that the two clans he's sending me to are the former rather than the later.

I can't feel fear about being killed though, rather I feel myself grow upset knowing that I won't get to see George as often as I thought I could this summer. All I want right now is to see him and have him hold me in his arms for as long as we can. I walk through the portrait door intent on finding him but it wasn't too difficult.

I needn't have worried about George waiting up alone. I don't think anyone is sleeping right now. I notice Fred and George sitting in two chairs talking with each other, and I walk over and before I can throw myself into his arms, George pulls me into his lap and wraps his arms around me. I smile as I lay my head down on his shoulder and feel the fear of what I agreed to do for Dumbledore melt away. I would do almost anything if it would help keep everyone safe, even if I was in danger.

George's POV:

Fred and I had been talking about Cedric. Neither of us can really believe that he's dead. We played Quidditch against him for the last few years. He was a good wizard, and he was only 17 and now he's gone. And he's back, you-know-who. The dark wizard that everyone fears and thought was dead, is back.

"Doesn't seem real does it?"

"No, it really doesn't Fred."

"What do you think Dumbledore had to talk to Kat about?"

"I don know, hope it wasn't more memories though. Whatever she saw tonight, it freaked her out."

He nods in agreement with me and we find ourselves sitting in silence again, thinking about everything that's managed to happen in just a few short hours. I see Fred look up and I follow his gaze and see Kat walking towards us. I know something is worrying her, but I don't know if it's the memories from tonight or what Dumbledore had to speak with her about. I just know I need to hold her right now, as I pull her down into my lap and wrap my arms around her.

I watch as Fred goes to ask her something but I stop him. Whatever it was, she'll tell us eventually. Right now she just needs to rest, we all need to rest while we can. I run my hand through her hair as she relaxes and I smile some as she falls asleep in my arms, the only place I want her to be.
