CHAPTER 16
K POV:The first moon wasn't my best. I ended draining eight rabbits and drinking from five deer before morning. I handed Hagrid the rabbits for the hipogriffs and he walked with me back to the castle just as the sun was rising. I see Vik walking toward us just as we reach the doors of the school. I stop and wait for him outside and we walk in together. He grabs my hand once we're inside and pulls me into a hug. He knows how much I dislike full moons. It makes me hate myself to come back feeling so great, only because I drank so much blood and took so much life away from other creatures.
I feel myself let out a ragged sounding breath as we let go of one another. I feel myself smile a bit at his concern as he looks all over my face and then my hands and arms for any sign of wounds or damage. He pulls my face up again, facing his, and forces me to look at his scowling face. I hear people walking up behind us but we don't move apart. It's usual for him to check over me this way if we're together after a full moon. Actually he almost always checks to make sure I didn't get hurt or didn't hurt myself, even if only through a letter. He really is like a scary looking older brother to me.
"You vere not hurt last night?"
"No Vik, I'm fine."
"You are never vine after a vull moon. You vust say you are vine."
"You know me too well Vik. I'll be fine later I swear. George will cheer me up."
"I vish you vould have let me come vith you last night."
"No, that wouldn't have been good at all Vik. Last night was a rough one. I'll be fine though, don't worry about me. Worry about what you're going to do next month in the first task."
"Very vell, if you say so. Are you coming to vreakvast?"
"No, I had enough last night. See you later Vik."
"Very vell."
He hugs me one last time before going into the Great Hall. I turn around and see the twins and Ron. Ron still looks stunned as he watches Vik disappear into the Great Hall. Fred isn't looking at me but at George, with a concerned look on his face. I look at George and see why, it's a mixture of hurt and anger and I get the feeling it's directed straight at me and Vik.
I start walking up to them but George turns and heads back upstairs. Fred calls out to him but he doesn't answer. Ron just stands there rather awkwardly and shifts from foot to foot. I look at Fred as he turns around and he's mumbling under his breath about what a stupid git George is.
"Fred, is he me mad at me?"
"I don know, maybe. I think the stupid git is jealous of how much Vik knows about you."
"Maybe I should go talk to him now then, while everyone else is at breakfast."
"Yeah sure. We'll make sure everyone in our group takes a while eating."
"Thanks, see you two later."
I walk up the stairs and into the Gryffindor common room but there's no one here. I decide to check their room and find myself climbing up the staircase before I can rethink my plan. I knock on their door but no one answers. I open it and I see him sitting on the bed facing the window overlooking the black lake. I walk over to him and touch his shoulder, watching as he jumps slightly before looking at me.
"Didn't here you come in."
"Are you....are you mad at me George?"
"Yes, no....I don't know. I just don't like seeing how close you and Krum are."
"George, what he told you about me being like his family was true. He doesn't have anyone. My family is as much as a family he's ever had. He will never be anything more to me than a good bet to catch the snitch and an older brother."
"I just can't see why you wouldn't want him instead of me."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm dirt poor, he's rich. He's famous, I'm not. He's......he's a lot of things I'll never be."
"George Weasley, you listen to me right now. I don't give a damn about any of that. I didn't fall in love with you for money, looks, or popularity. I fell in love with you because you make me happy. Happier than I've ever been with anyone else, friends and family included."
"You serious?"
"Dead serious."
Before I can say anything else I'm in his arms and having his lips attack mine. I smile through the kisses then I hear a wolf whistle. I open my eyes and look to see Fred standing in the doorway with Ron behind him. So much for them taking a while eating. It's weird though, Ron is almost always with Hermione and Harry. Unless he thinks that Harry entered and just didn't tell him, idiot.
"Well I hate to break this moment up but George we have to reply to a letter we just got and then we have joke plans to discuss."
"Oh, uh right. Kat want to join us later to talk about joke ideas? You normally have a few."
"Sure, I'm going to go to bed until then though. Then maybe work on homework for McGonagall for a while."
I kiss him on the cheek again before going back to my own room. I see Scar sitting on her bed reading what looks like Herbology, and she looks like she's fighting her eyes glazing over the page. She looks up at me, smiles, and goes right back to trying to read. Vik probably told her I don't like talking about my hunting trips. Good friend. I brush my teeth and check the bathroom before I brush my fangs.
Afterwards I go back into the room, climb into bed and literally pass out. My last thought is kissing George after eating a cookie that will change his lips a different color. They liked that idea when I told them, I wonder if I could think of other ideas that we could test out by kissing. Now that would be a fun experimenting time.
