Chapter 37

CHAPTER 37
George's POV:

Bill didn't care at all that Kat was vamped out and even told her it was cool before asking a few questions that everyone has already asked her at least once. Including what a half-vamp is. I see her relax a bit as Bill talks with her some more and even comments that she's wearing the necklace he found. She blushes some as she touches it before looking back at Bill talking about what he does in Egypt.

I feel a smile form on my face as I watch her talk with Bill for a while and then Ginny asking how her exams went. I feel Fred hit my shoulder some and I look away from her smile only to see him pointing towards mum who has clearly been listening to the whole conversation a few seats away. She turns toward us and has a new look on her face as she stands and walks over to us.

Both Kat and I tense as she stands in front of us. Kat immediately stops talking to Ginny, turning back to the front facing mum, and looks down at the ground biting her lap. I feel her tug her hand out of mine quickly, so I simply pull her closer to me by wrapping my arm around her waist. She doesn't look up at all and I know what she's doing right now. She's trying to hide her fangs and her eyes as best as she can. I don't doubt she's trying to 'unvamp' right now if she can, though we both know she needs to do this for the full moon to be more bearable in three days. I kiss her gently on the forehead while glaring at mum, waiting for her to say whatever is on her mind now.

She goes to say something but is suddenly stopped by Bagman's voice flooding the stands that everyone is sitting in. He's announcing the rules of the event as mum goes back to sit down. We all listen to the foul little git as he sends in the champions. Harry and Cedric first, followed by Viktor, and then Fleur. We watch as the maze closes on each of them as they begin, with Fleur being the last. I hear some people become bored within a few minutes and start chatting among themselves, all trying to figure out what will be in the maze. I thought maybe mum had given up but soon she's in front of us again and Kat goes from smiling to staring down the ground again.

"I was hoping to talk to you both." (Mrs. W)

"That ok with you Kitty?" (G)

I had leaned in close to whisper to her and she turns to face me before answering. I can see the same fear that was in her eyes the night I found out her secret and I almost tell mum no, but she surprises me with her own whispered answer.

"ok"

I kiss her on the head again before looking back towards mum who now has a new look on her face. She's happy we agreed to talk to her I suppose. I start rubbing Kat's arm and I feel her lean into me almost on instinct as I do. Mum doesn't say anything about it though, instead she surprises both of us.

"Dear I.....well dear you see I want to apologize for earlier."

"W-what?" (K)

"I overreacted and I didn't mean to be so rude to you. I wasn't sure what a half-vamp was, and I thought George was in danger."

"I would never hurt anyone, especially George."

"I believe that I know that now. Everyone I've talked to today has said only good things about you."

"That's because that's all there is to say about her mum." (G)

"I know that now dear. I hope you can forgive me Katherine and you too George dear. I would also love to have you at our home some this summer if you'd like dear."

"I-I would like that very much Mrs. Weasley."

I watch as mum smiles and Kat finally looks up and meets her eyes. Mum doesn't say anything about Kat being vamped out, and her smile doesn't even falter as she leans forward to give us both a hug. I feel Kat relax next to me again and even makes room for mum to sit between her and Bill as we wait for the third task to be completed.
