Hello!
When I discovered that it was National Give Something Away Day, I immediately thought "Wow! What a great day to give your heart away to Jesus!" So that is what I want to talk to you about today.
What does it mean to give your heart to Jesus?
Giving him your heart means you join your spirit to his, otherwise known as being born again. It happens when you place all of your beliefs in the Bible and all of your hope on the eternity you can have with Jesus Christ. He lived the perfect life required by the law and then he died in our place to pay for our sins. This begins a relationship with Jesus, a friendship that will last the rest of your life and into eternity. There is nothing more beautiful than a person whose entire life is placed in God's hand.
"My heart is deceitful, broken, and full of all wickedness. God doesn't want it!"
You may think that, but in reality, if your heart is beaten and shattered, that is exactly what God wants! He needs you to hand him your brokenness so that he can fix it and make you whole again! He won't turn you down because of your sin! No way! If you take a second look, you'll see him standing right there with his arms open wide.
How do I give my heart to Jesus?
It begins with a simple prayer stating that you believe in him and what he did for you. Then confessing that you are a sinner who is more than deserving of judgment, ask him to forgive you, and finally surrender your life to him.
"Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken." -Psalm 55:22
The Bible tells us to cast all of our cares upon him, but I say give him your heart too! Give him everything! Every single thing that you have came from God, so give back a little!
Today I ask, if any one of you has not given your heart to Jesus and you don't know where you're going when you die, just give your heart to Jesus. It is the absolute best thing you can ever do!
You can talk about being saved with your parents, pastor, youth leader, ANYONE! Even me! Don't be afraid, because you never know, this could be your last day on Earth and didn't give your heart over to Jesus. I really don't want that for you, for anyone.
Be an organ donor. Give your heart to Jesus.
