One Step Closer

No Place Like Home

Read Luke 15:11-24

This story has been preached and talked about a million times. Well, I'm about to make that a million and one.

Jesus tells us this story hoping to remind us that no matter how far away we run from God, he will always be waiting to welcome us back home into his arms.

▶You can run from God, but you can never outrun the love of God.◀

The father in the story wasn't mad that his son had spent everything he had and nearly wasted his life. Instead, he threw his arms around his neck, placing a kiss on his cheek, and threw him a party! A party, guys! He was just so happy to see his son finally come running back to him! And that's how God is! He wants to know that you love him and wants to see you running back to him because he loves you and I promise he will run to you too with his arms open wide, ready to take you back with him!

When you've gotten even as far away from God as you think is possible, just know that God isn't mad at you. No, he's just madly in LOVE with you! So don't be afraid to go to him when you're feeling bad. He's always there for you.

This parable also tells us that the father gave his son the best robe and a biggest, fattest, juiciest cow that he had when he returned.

Genesis 3:21 says, "The Lord God made clothing out of skins for Adam and his wife, and He clothed them."

This was right after the two had disobeyed God and ate fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They had sinned against God, but God still loved them and cared enough for them that he gave them what they wanted, what they thought they needed.

Although we should strive to do our very best to stay as close to God as we can, God will always love us and be there for us when we call upon his name for help.

My day was amazing!!!
I know I haven't told you anything about this situation before, but about a week ago my mom and step dad finally got full custody of my step brother (that's a really good thing!!). We're ALL going to have to get used to him living with us, but God can help us through it! He [my step brother] is where he belongs now, which is more than we could ever ask!
