A couple of hours after their enjoyable activity, Emma's heart beating had already slowed down and so had Killian's. They were sleeping on the TV room's couch, their naked bodies slightly covered with a thin sheet as they snuggled together. Things had worked out so perfectly between them that for an instant everything seemed to be just fine.

And then...

Killian stirred at the sound of the telephone ringing, opening his eyes with difficulty as he groaned. He glanced at the clock. 3:34 AM? Who on Earth was calling at that time? Just as he was about to stand up, Emma woke up and placed her hand on his chest, gently pushing him backwards. She took the first clothe she could find, which was Killian's shirt, and put it on.

"I'll get that" she said drowsily, yawning before walking towards the table and picking up the phone "Hello?"

"Emma? Oh, thanks God you answered! Something terrible has happened" the waving voice on the other side said.

And that was when Emma's drowsiness faded.

"Mom? W-What is it? Are you okay?" She asked desperately just as Killian turned on the room's lights.

"Yes, but... your father... He h-had a car accident and he's..." Mary Margaret let out a small cry before going on with difficulty "He's been taken to the surgery room. I haven't seen him and I don't know how he's doing..."

Her mother broke into tears, making Emma feel uneasy. She wanted to ask her how had it happened or if she knew something else about the surgery, but realized that Mary Margaret was not in conditions of explaining things. Even though panic was starting to fill her body, Emma managed to get a hold of herself for her mother.

"Mom, calm down. Everything's gonna be fine. I'll see you at the hospital in a couple of hours, okay?"

"Okay..." Was the only thing Mary Margaret could say before hanging up.

Emma felt a sudden dizziness and a horrible headache. Her father was in the hospital and her mother was freaking out. It was a lot to take in at 3AM.

"Swan?" Killian asked, pulling her away from her thoughts by placing his hand on her forearm.

Emma took a deep breath, holding back her tears.

"We're going to Colorado"

Emma and Killian were very lucky to find an airplane that departed in little time. The journey seemed to be eternal even though the flight lasted less than two hours. As soon as they arrived to Colorado, they took a cab to the hospital.

They both rushed into the building, only carrying a pair of small bags with themselves since they haven't got much time to pack, and caught sight of Mary Margaret sitting alone in a chair.

"Mom!" Emma exclaimed before hugging the woman. She looked very downhearted, horribly pale and with some tears still running down her face.

"You made it!" She replied, appreciating her daughter's warm hug. She really needed it.

"Yes," Emma said with a small smile "how's Dad?"

Mary Margaret wiped away her tears before speaking "A doctor came some minutes ago and told me that the surgery will last more hours than expected. That's the only thing I've been told"

Emma hugged her mother once again, not sure what else to say to reassure her. She was also damn scared and wanted nothing more than to scream and see her father, but knew that losing control wouldn't be of much help to Mary Margaret. Someone had to remain calmed and be strong for the two of them, so Emma assumed that role.
