I felt a banging in my head and wished I could feel nothing again. I let my eyes open and blinked around at my surrounding. I stopped when my gaze met Josh. He was hunched over, his head against my chest. I was now laying down across his legs.
"Josh?" I asked, my voice raspier than usual. He shot up and looked at me. His face was tired and full of worry. He smiled slowly.
"Thank god. I was getting really worried." He pulled me into a hug and I hugged him back.
"How long have I been passed out?"
"A little over an hour," Josh said. "I was going to get the nurse if you didn't wake up soon."
"Thanks." He smiled in response. I tried to sit up but felt dizzy and braced myself on the wall.
"How about you just stay up here for the night," Josh suggested. "I can sleep on your bunk."
"Are you sure?"
"Yea. It's no problem." He climbed off of the bunk and I heard the creaking of him laying down on mine. I missed his warmth and cuddled into his comforter. I let my tired eyes shut again and fell asleep.

I woke up to the sound of Mr. Roberts' voice blasting through a speaker.
"Good Morning, counselors. Today is the day that the campers arrive! Please meet in the lunch hall in 20 minutes." I groaned and hid my face deeper into my pillow. The bed felt so warm and I didn't want to get up just yet. Suddenly, the covers were pulled off of me and a chill sent throughout my body. I scowled down at Josh. He just laughed and dropped the blankets.
"That was very rude of you!" I said, getting down from his bunk and crossing my arms over my chest. Looking at his smug face reminded me of what happened last night. My eyes were drawn to his arms, but I moved them back to his face quickly. "Are you okay?"
"I think so. Are you?"
"Yea."
"Good. Now, come on. We have to get ready." He grabbed his clothes and toiletries and left the cabin. I rubbed my eyes and sighed before doing the same and following him.
When we walked into the lunch hall, we were faced with our fellow counselors. Each pair had matching shirt with the camp logo on it in different colors. Josh and I had blue shirts. We all stood around and mingled as we waited for Mr. Roberts. When he finally entered, he had a huge grin on his face.
"Good morning everyone! I hope you're all as excited as I am to meet these children!" Brendon laughed childishly and I rolled my eyes. "They should be here any moment so I'm going to pass out your attendance sheets and rosters!" He walked around and handed each pair a clipboard. I accepted ours and scanned the list. We then went outside to wait for the kids.
As the first cars began pulling us my nerves were growing higher. I was good with kids, but, after last night, I was nervous about being responsible for 6 of them. I looked at Josh and he had a huge smile on his face that melted my heart. I tried to regain my composure as a little boy with messy, brown hair ran up to us.
"Hi, I'm counselor Josh and this is counselor Tyler. What's your name?"
"M-my name is Kyle," he said. His arms were twisting with his bag at his side.
"Kyle Winters?" I asked, glancing down at the clipboard in my hands. I looked at him and he nodded his head. Soon, more and more kids arrived.

We led our kids to the main hall so that they could hear the rules and schedule from Mr. Roberts. I went through the list of names in my hands over and over again and tried to place them to faces. By the time I had everyone's name memorized, the speech was over. We led our campers to the cabin and they all picked their bunks.

It's a little bit of filler but you needed to know the names of the kids and stuff. They'll actually do things in the next chapter. I promise.
