Thanks so much for 1.5k ! This is the most amount of reads a story of mine has gotten while I was still writing it
-------

I walked in the front doors of the school and slapped on a fake smile. I walked down the halls and let myself slip into my usual persona. I smiled at a girl that walked by. I said hey to a few guys from the wrestling team. I made my way to my locker and unlocked it quickly, setting what I didn't need inside and grabbing my things for 1st period.

When I walked into the classroom, I looked around for a familiar face. I spotted Chris and Nick, two other guys from the basketball team, and sat down next to them.

"Hey, dude," Chris said. "How was that summer camp that your parents shipped you off to?"

"Hell?" Nick added in.

"Not really. There were some cool people."

"Any chicks?" Chris asked, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Yea, get any good pussy?" I held back a wince and laughed awkwardly.

"Nah," I said, pulling open my notebook.

"Well, word is that Jenna's single now. And she's got her eye on you," Nick said.

"Really?"

"Yea." I just nodded and took out my pencil. "Aren't you into her?"

"I don't know," I said, shrugging.

"You don't know? It's Jenna Black, dude. She's a cheerleader and totally hot."

"So?"

"What's up with you?" Chris asked.

"What do you mean?" I regretted letting my voice sound so defensive. Before he could answer, the teacher walked in and quieted us down.

The class seemed to go by in a flash. Before I knew it, I was walking to my next class. I looked around at the faces I passed. I got sadder the more faces I didn't recognize. Now that I was thinking about it, I didn't know most of the people at this school.

I walked in the door of my calculus class and found an empty seat in the middle of the room. There was a girl with short blond hair on my left, a girl with long black hair on my right, and a guy with buzzed brown hair in front of me. He had the number 2 tattooed on the back of his neck.

I carried my tray of food to the familiar table by the vending machines. I sat down in between Chris and Nick. They were arguing about something that had happened on twitter over the summer. I went in and out of listening to their conversation.

"I'm just saying, man, if he hadn't dm'd her, none of this would've happened," Chris said through a mouthful of food.

"Sure, blame him! She's the bitch who tweeted it to everyone," Nick retorted. Chris just rolled his eyes and took another bite of his food. "What do you think, Tyler?"

"Huh?" I looked up at him.

"Who's fault was it?"

"I don't know," I said. "I don't even know what you guys are talking about. I didn't have my phone all summer."

"Oh, yeah. You were stuck at that camp."

"I wouldn't say I was 'stuck' there. It wasn't that bad."

"Wait, you actually liked it there?" Chris asked, laughing.

"Kind of," I said, quietly.

"Jeez, they really must've brain washed you," Nick joked, shoving my shoulder. I laughed lightly and looked back down at my food.

"Hey." I heard Josh's voice and my head shot up. I smiled up at him.

"Hey!"

"What do you want?" Chris asked Josh.

"My friend just asked you a question," Nick butt in, glaring at Josh. Josh just looked at me helplessly. I was sure I had the same look on my face.

"Um, uh, I just wanted to talk to Tyler," he stuttered.

"Why? You got a crush on him, fag?" Chris spat. Nick laughed and stood so he was in Josh's face.

"Tyler," Josh said. His voice shook and I felt so terrible. I wanted to cry. I wanted to stand up and hug Josh. I wanted to kiss Josh.

But I didn't. My body was frozen. I tried to move but I couldn't. No matter how hard I was trying, I stayed sitting, just staring at him.

"I don't think he wants to talk to you, princess," Nick said.

"Fuck you," Josh whispered before he walked away. I stood up in time to watch him leave the cafeteria.

"What's that freak's problem?" Chris asked. I just walked out of the cafeteria, following the direction Josh went. I got into the hallway and ran to find him. I went down the rows of lockers, tears threatening to spill over.

I was a dick. Josh was right. I'm the worst kind of person. I hurt Josh so bad. I promised that I wouldn't and I did.

The bell rang and I froze in my tracks. I began to panic as students filled the halls and darted into the nearest bathroom. I slammed the stall door behind me and pressed my back against it. I tried to take deep breaths as tears poured down my face.

I hate myself
