"W-what? You're lying.Th-they can't be," I stuttered, on the verge of tears. I watched as she climbed down from the tree with shaking arms. Her leg slipped and I instantly ran to catch her.
"I wish I was Cami. I really wish I was lying. But I'm not. I saw it, Cam, I saw it all," we both slid to the ground with our arms wrapped around each other.
"How did you get away?"
She backed away from me, "They let me go because of my reactions. My reactions were too 'hilarious' for them to kill me. They said my body and face was too pretty to just discard like the rest," she was nearly yelling now.
"People are sick. Let's leave this godforsaken park. We have too many memories with them here. It's too recent," I grabbed her hand and helped her up.

"Where have you been?" Jewel asked suddenly, as we walked near the library.
"You know, where do I always go when I have no where else that't not my home?" I gave her a look saying, 'this is a test, I hate you if you get it wrong'.
"You're giving me that look," we both shared a quiet laugh, "the library?"
I smiled, my face illuminating, 'you did it! I still love you!'
"Were you alone?"
"I wish. There's this group there, they found me about a week after all this started."
"You met someone there didn't you? I know that look."
"I-I did, yes. We had a few moments. I guess. He seems like this really overpowering guy, but he's really just. Extremly over confident. Like if you want to kill yourself, jump from his ego to the old clocktower. He meant well though,"
"Did you actually let him in?"
"Ye-yes. Then I left."
"You hit the panic button. Not every guy you meet is going to use you. And you know that, Cam."
"I do know that. It's an obvious fact, and I have no idea why I can't let myself accept it."
"You feel like you've been used too many times, that's why. You're afraid to be used again."
I was silent until we got to the clock tower, "This is where they found me, I was sitting up there. I think I was eating an apple or something. I don't really remember."
"At least good people found you."
"Jewel, don't think about it. You're only hurting yourself by doing that."
We climbed over the rubble, as memories flooded through my mind. I need to stop this nonsense, I left and that's that. I don't plan on going back.
We stood near the post office, bodies lay everywhere. There were men, women, children. The Takeover didn't discriminate.
"Where are we going anyway?" Jewel asked as we sat on the post office steps, each with a snack in our hands.
"Wherever the wind takes us."
"I thought you didn't believe in fate? And why didn't we just go to that group that found you?"
"I usually don't believe in fate. We are not going to the group."
"Why not? Isn't it alot safer there and out here?"
